just trying to get some stuff in order (buying things) before spring when i can finally start detailing consistently again and have been considering picking up an Infratech. i like it because its a plug-in unit and doesnt operate on batteries like the sun gun and also because it projects two beams. good for comparisons, 50/50's etc.

anyone who owns/uses one of these could you please just throw up a little input on these?

    thanks in advance everyone. :cig:

I have one, I got from DD. Very nice light, and I agree I like the cord option over batt operated. Very true light (color rendition)

I love mine and always use it for my paint corrections and 50/50 shots.

cool i was hoping i would hear nothing but good things. whats the weight like just out of curiosity?

i obviously use halogens while correcting, but i find myself wanting something more "precise" if that makes sense. i have a single halogen that just sits on the floor that i use to look up close, but its just a paint in the ass as you may imagine. plus it gets crazy hot haha.

The Infratech is great because of its dual bulb design and power cord but on such paints as metallics it becomes more difficult to properly sight defects, and on just about all paints its tough to spot holograms with it. On a flat black however it works very well for defect finding with the exception of fine holograms. I started using a Fenix LED light and it works much better on metallics paints and is perfect for spotting even fine holograms. I use both my infratech and Fenix TK10 and think I can spot just about everything on a paint finish because both are different spectrums of light. The Fenix is similar to the 3M Sungun in its ability to spot defects, but its much smaller and compact and the battery life is outstanding, when it dies just replace them with new CR123a batteries which are not very expensive.

Its always good to have multiple sources of light so you dont miss anything:thumb:

thanks for your reply. that is why i'm probably going to pick up an infratech with my next DD order. using just the halogens isnt really cutting it for me anymore. my customers expect a certain level of perfection, and not having the right lighting i can honestly say affects that. where can one pick up one of these fenix lights and how much are they? i've seen that name thrown around here a couple times, but dont know much about them.
