Hey guys, I've heard that buffing windows is an effective way to really make your windows shine. Is that true? If it is what kind of pads and products are you suppose to use to do it?
I have used poorboys ssr1 with a finish pad to clean the windows before i apply a sealant for rain repellent. Didn't notice any shinning effect more of just getting rid of water spots and contamination on the glass. This is after claying, it really makes the glass smooth. I guess with the cleaning effect the glass would seem to "shine" more because of the better reflectivity of the surface.
I agree with agpatel  I too have done this to windows and it helps significantly, just use a finishing pad and a finish polish and you should be fine. I've always been curious if you could compound glass just like you would window? I'm sure you can but I wonder if the results would be the same as in paint? :shead:
Nica, I would guess you can but I think you would need crazy polishes. I dont know? Hmm time to get some glass from the junk yard and try it out? haha.
I use 1Z glaspolish a couple times a year, especially on the windshield before applying aquapel. Clay the windows every other month. My favorite combo to clean windows on a regular basis is Sprayway Glass Cleaner and "uber" glass towels.
 I'm going to give it a shot on my Volvo, it's in desperate need of a fine polish anyways...I'm just curious what kinds of polish will be required for glass...diamond compound...now where is my wife's jewelry
Hmm, I haven't actually tried buffing my windows yet. All I've been doing so far is cleaning them often with Stoner's IG. Going to be getting some Aquapel soon as well. Side question regarding Aquapel: Does 1 applicator = 1 windshield? or can it be used for a windshield plus say the driver and passenger windows?
Matters on how big the windows are. I got the windshield plus my back hatch window which is smaller. I did the whole window in North-South wipes then did East-West wipes. I still had enough to do the back window in the same manner.
The only worry I see with polishing glass is how fast it may heat up. For some reason I think it would heat up rather fast.
