I was just wondering how long do you guys keep your clay for. I've done a couple DD thta arent clayed except maybe once every year or two, and I generally use a 50 gram bar to clay a vehicle, some times I get two uses out of the 50 g bar on car like this, is that being to stingy with clay, or is it pretty good. how long does you clay last after detailing a fairly neglected daily driver.
I usually cut a big piece into several smaller pieces... depending on bad the contamination is determines on how long I will let stay in the aresnal
what size pieces do you guys cut them up into, too small of a piece can be difficult to work with i usually cut a 60 or 50gram pices in have for a car.
this is a great topic. i have always scratched my head on this a little bit too. :waiting2: nice to finally get some opinions or input on the subject :applause2:
I'll take the bar and cut it in half and use that on 2, no more than 3 cars as long as they were average. You gotta a car with lots of tar, that piece won't get you through that one car. (Glad I bought Tarminator so no more problem there, LOL). I guess what I'm saying is that it really depends on how contaminated the paint is.
I tend to cut my clay into smaller pieces as well but maybe not as small as some of the other guys. I usually just keep it and then demote them to wheel duty when necessary.
I have never used this product so take this for what its worth- Cleaning - Blackfire Clay Bar Extender sprayed on to the contaminated face of the clay, and then rubs in with your fingers. A quick rinse in a bucket of water will usually remove 95% or more of the contamination
I have seen a lot of package where people wash, dry and wax the car. Do you guys tell the customer the car should be clayed before wax or claying is not necessary before wax/sealant?
After you cut it up organize it! http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/washing-claying-engine/12834-organized-my-clay.htm
Divide the detailer's clay into several equal pieces and knead into a ball to ensure pliability Take one of the pieces and flatten it out into a circle, approximately enough that it will fit onto two or three fingers Detailer’s Automotive Clay - http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f8/detailer-s-automotive-clay-7546.html
