My car has some very hard to remove contaminants in the paint right now. I was at the drag strip and sitting in the staging lanes behind the burnout box my car got covered in rubber, and unfortunately I didn't have the time or place to clean it right away. So now there is some very very set in rubber all over the car. Would clay bar be the right tool for removing this, and if so what particular clay and clay lube would you recommend?

The car is pearl white, so these little black specks really stick out!

If nothing else removes it, try Stoner's Tarminator, let it soak for a minute, then use your claybar on it, with the tarminator as lube. Your clay will become unuseable afterwards, but clay is relatively cheap. The tarminator disintegrates the claybar.

That's my guess. I've used it on stubborn spots on lower panels before. But I've never had to remove rubber.

I agree with Pektel. Use some tar and adhesive remover first. Spray it on and let it dwell. Repeat this a few times and then spray some on a crap mf and wipe. Wash the area after and then use clay to get any little bits left. I use Autoglyms Tar and Adhesive Remover and it works awesome.

I really need to get some of that AG stuff. I've been wanting to try it for a long time.

Just waiting for that Bilt Hamber Auto Balm...

Tarminator works but you'll need to purchase a few containers if it's a large area that has all the contamination. As for using Tarminator as lube...um..I've tried this and didn't like it but it does work, what I used to do is spray Tarminator, let it sit wipe it off then reapply and reapply, I now use Tardis and it's much stronger compared to Tarminator but it behaves the same way as Tarminator, apply let it sit for a bit then wipe off.

This should do the trick, just be patient with it, specially if your using Tarminator....oh and detailing can get a tad expensive...but just a tad  :giggle:
