I'm almost certain that you can get a Metabo with SAE threads on it; JL has one.

Chicago Electric is a good rotary to buy and practice with but for a long term polisher I would go with a Makita.

I was just looking at some and they are around 369 euros which is like $542 given a 1.47 exchange rate. I am not sure which one Got Wax has but I was looking at the Festool Shinex rap 150 for pricing.

I really like my Flex 3403. Really like the trigger and location of the speed dial. Feels well balanced and easy to handle.

For one it is a solid a very well made unit .The weight is perfect for long term polishing. I have a Makita,a Flex 603VV , a Metabo,And I have 3403 enroute which I only brought due to I couldn't passup the price. They are all really good units . There was a dicussion on this eact topic not to long ago. I really would like the Festool .But its just a little to pricey for me at this time.

I've heard this point about the cost of the Festool. I have been using the Flex rotary as well as the 9227. The Flex is necessary to fit in to some tight spots. The Festool fits in those spots. So, having to purchase just one unit can offset the need for two, making the price within reach. For me, however, I just can't get my head around removing backing plates and replacing another BP. So, I still prefer to have a couple rotarys - Festools.

I have only used Makita so can't make a comparasion. So far have been abusing it for hundreds of cars and it still serving me strong. With its price, i got no regrets...

Yep same reason I have more than one as I hate switching backing plates. Hence the reason I loved the edge system and why it made so much sense. But I like others like to try other pads that come to market .
