I have been REALLY sick the last few days with some Flu BS.... I needed an excuse to leave my Bed because i was going CRAZY staying inside. Problem: My house has REALY REALLY REALLY hard water. From years of washing my car at home with hard water, I developed water spots where on the outer side of the trunk seal in the Jams. The Water spots were REALLY BAD and VERY thick. I got sick of seeing the spots so i wanted them gone. Solution: Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover I decided to try CG Water Spot Remover on the problem and see what happens. The product itself is a Gel, so it doesnt drip and run where you dont want it to go. The Product itself smells HORRIBLE!! Its smells like Stinky Vagina To me. Kinda Odd because every other CG product has a Great fruity smell. Process:: I washed the area with Soapy water and Wiped with IPA. I then used the WaterSpotRemover with a MF towel and rubbed the area. The Product does not need alot of muscle, but needs some action to do the job. I used an MF towel for the large areas. I also noticed you need to keep the gel on the area, if it soaks into the towel, it doesnt work as well. I used a Brush to apply the gel to the crevasses and agitate. Once the job was done I rinsed with Water and wiped down with IPA Results: AMAZING!!! The spots are GONE!!! I didnt even have to work hard to get them off!!! Awesome Product that is a MUST HAVE in the collection. This will come very handy in the future!!! It seems to take the spots off faster and with less effort than Distilled Vinegar. Its also easier to use because it doesnt drip like Vinegar since its a gel. I also notices that is cleaned the surface of all contaminates very nicely to a nice shine. ... I have only used the vinegar method 1 time... So its hard for me to give input on that method.
Yeah, its defiantly worth the buy. IDK if this is the same product as The Danase Water Spot Remover because I havent tried it but i bet it is. The advantage I found with this product was that is can get into cracks. I had water spots on the Hinges of the trunk and i needed a brush to get inbetween the hinges themselves.
I myself never tried dilluted vinegar, because I don't like the smell of it...CG WSR is pretty much acid based (similar to vinegar), and it breaks the bond between minrals and painted surface...I tried it myself when I left my car with sprinklers on during summer days, and CG WSR worked very well removing those...and they are hard to remove if you let them bake. Another nice product from CG that is a must have.
Stuff does work pretty well but please remember to always hear nice thick gloves with this stuff or it will really dry out your hand and deff not good for them. I have used a yellow foam app or a sponge cut up when I used it previously and worked pretty well.
lol. I have the Demo version and it smells Strong.... Paul said It would be production version is stronger.
Water spots can etch into the paint. Was there any etching? You may have to show the light at a different angle to see etching.
There was no etching (thank goodness). I think because the water was on the Underside of the trunk that the sun didnt see so the sun didnt have the ability to bake it on. There was like a little spot with etching (TINT spot), but the 1Z polishwax handled it.
