I'm picking up my PC 7424XP tomorrow as well as some Chemical Guys Scratch & Swirl B-Gone scratch and swirl 1-step diminishing compound & polish in-1

As directed by CG's staff (I spoke with someone there) and their site: I plan to use an orange LC CCS pad with the product.

Now onto the point of this thread. I know that the PC DA is a safe machine, especially for someone new to machine-powered correction like myself, but I can't help but still be a bit apprehensive about using it on my new black 09 RAV4's clear coat.
I do intend to use it first on my wife's 05 silver Sable as that vehicle has never seen a true full detail job in it's life.

I was on the fence about even using anything except for a sealant or wax for the RAV since it's so new but the finish has accumulated (and maybe started out with, from the dealer) some light swirls and spider webs in addition to a few more troublesome problem spots. The problem spots i refer to are some water spots and a bit of curious coloration issues on the hood.

I've gotta grab the camera and snap a few pics of the 'coloration variant areas' of the hood that I'm referring to but I'm at work right now as I'm posting this so it'll havta wait.

Anyway: I guess what I'm looking for is some affirmatiom (from some who have used this product or something similiar) that I'm being needlessly apprehensive and should not worry so much about this first go with a DA & this product on my new black vehicle.

Some relevant notes: I've researched (read and watched the Pinnacle YouTube video on how to use the PC) well in advance of this impending purchase, I'm not clumsy or heavy-handed, and am good at following directions to a 'T'.

You may need another product to finish down properly. 1500-1700 grit removal is some decently heavy stuff IIRC. It might be a little too much cut. I'm not exactly sure.

When you say 'finish down': you're referring to going to a less aggressive product after using the particular CG product I specified? That CG product is made with diminishing abrasives which I thought would accomplish the finer surface polishing as those abrasives break down, thereby eliminating the need to do an additional step with a less abrasive polish before LSP application.

Anyway, on a slightly different note: what you mention with this product being a bit on the aggressive side makes the case for my aprehension. I don't wanna go tearing into my new RAV's finish more deeply than necessary.
Perhaps I should pick up some Poorboy's SSR1 instead?

Thanks for the feedback Reflect. I look forward to your additional advice and am hoping others will weigh in as well and .

final polish would be more suitable. ssbg is great but you will need another step

Diminishing or not I still think you're going to need to finish down afterwards. I know 105 leaves a decent finish for a compound but it's still not acceptable for a lot of us. You always wanna start off with the least invasive method regardless. SSR1 is ok, but I suggest getting a 16oz verison of something from the Menzerna line. 106fa on white might do the trick and leave a nice finish.
