I guess I'm the first review for Chemical Guy's new product Honeydew. For those that aren't familiar it is a maintenance soap formulated with particular use in foam guns, cannons, and sprayers. They say it makes very tight and clingy suds. I don't have a pressure washer but I do have a foam gun so my review is based on use in a Gilmour gun. I didn't bother capturing any pics as I was working in 90 degree weather but it certainly performs as advertised. Really small suds. And it does cling well to the car especially after most of the water runs off. I also used it as a soap and again suds are really tight. The scent is very pleasant; nice and sweet earthy note. The cleaning power is on par with Maxi Suds II which makes it a great maintenance wash. It is especially wallet friendly when purchased in the gallon size. My car was not too dirty or dusty; just the normal post rain stuff (dirt accumulation at drip lines, water spots, some bugs on the front end). Slickness was a little bit less than Maxi Suds II. All in all I recommend it. Especially for those looking for a cheap soap for foaming. -Chase
I used Honeydew for the first time last week. I didn't do quite well with it ONLY because I'm not sure to my PW yet. I finally got it down last week but Megs Hyperwash was my soap of choice. I don't like the actual honeydew fruit but I don't mind this smell at all.
Thank you for your review...I'm planning to try out this shampoo... anything smells better (except for Iron Cut) then 69 cent after shave from 60's...
Thanks for the review, I have got to get a gallon of this stuff since I was the only one complaining that there have been no dedicated snow foams in our US market. I bet adding a couple of ounces to my trusty AG Powermax 3 will make for a really great snow foam pre-wash.
UPDATE: Did another wash with Honeydew; actually, just used it in the Gilmour foam gun. Water spotting/dirt deposits from heavy rain: Obligatory action shot: Dwelling: After the gunning, dwelling and rinsing (cleaned the surface pretty well by it's own):
That dwelling shot was pretty immediate - I mean as quick as dry my finger a bit and pull out my iPhone. Otherwise I let it dwell for probably 5 minutes.
How does the 'clinginess' compare to Maxi Suds? Also, is it available anywhere other than the CG website?
Definitely clings more than MSII. The suds are tighter thus less likely to be pulled off by gravity. As far as I know I don't think it's anywhere else. They actually sold out of their first batch super quick - I got the second batch. I think it's in high demand so I recommend just ordering there - can't beat their rates. However, detailing.com who carries CG may carry Honeydew now. Are you in Canada newbie?
Thanks for the info. I've only attempted to use Honeydew once but I'm still getting used to the foam gun. Here were my results when I tried it a few weeks ago. I think it came out good, but I think I can do better next time around.
anyone try this against citrus clear wash? that is my current daily use soap........... maxisudz2 was more foam then cleaning IMO, so I am looking for options.
MSII has caught my attention but I think Honeydew will suffice my curiosity on it. However I'm curious about their new soap that's still in the works. I think they're still trying to come up with a name and it either is based on MSII or something different, there's not too much info on it just yet.
