Hi Guys, So I stopped by Detailers Domain late Friday afternoon to pickup a bottle of CarPro Soap Gel for the week-end. Luckily, Phil was still there so we talked for a bit and I reminded him for the 100th time that I was super excited for PERL to come in and that I was going to buy a bottle of it as soon as he has it available. Being the great guy that he is, he gave me an unopened sample he still had with the request that I do a write-up on it. Thanks again for the sample! CarPro PERL: PERL, which obviously stands for Plastic, Engine, Rubber, and Leather is a water-based dressing-type of product, offering durability up to 3 months. It can be diluted all the way down to 5:1 (waterroduct) depending on the surface at hand. Directions are easy: clean the surface to be protected, spray the product directly onto surface, and buff down with a microfiber towel. External plastics and tires can be applied with a sponge applicator pad, and buffed down with a microfiber. So basically PERL is applied like any other dressing and offers a high level of UV protection with supposedly impressive durability. For my test, I decided to first start with my mother's car as I gave it a wash just yesterday. Here are some pictures of the clean, undressed wheels and tires: I diluted the product 1:1 in a 4oz spray bottle: Applied one coat to the tires with a sponge applicator pad and left to dry for a few minutes: The tires came out looking great. I only had to use very little product and it went on very wet, but it dried up in just a couple of minutes to reveal a very nice, semi-black satin finish. You can see at some angles there was a nice shine to the tire, but looking at it straight on produced a matte, subdued look. No greasy/oily look here! I gave the car back to my mother and I will update this thread with more pictures on follow-up washes so we can see how well this product holds up over time. The tires were not buffed down at all and produced zero sling so far! Now let's turn our attention over to the Honda PIlot so we can test the product out on some exterior plastic trim. It really doesn't look bad at all, but look what happens with this 50/50 shot of PERL applied with a sponge applicator pad: It has restored that deep black factory-new appearance that it was missing more than I thought ! These next few pictures reveal just how dry the 3-year-old trim really was: And now, the entire area finished with PERL: Note: Even though I let the product dry thoroughly before spraying water on it, I found out that the product absolutely MUST be buffed down with a dry or damp MF towel before you see any beading out of it. Here are some beading shots, a little bit weird from what I'm used to, but still certainly getting the job done: In conclusion, PERL made for a really sharp-looking tire dressing and an excellent trim restorer. The only test now (and the most important test!) is to see how well it holds up, that's why this thread is just a preview for now. I will update pictures and information after a few weeks have gone by to see how the product is doing. Thanks, Emile
Great review Emile Thanks bro! This will no doubt be a popular item and I will be waiting for the follow up review.
great review thanks for sharing. the perls is a great product, a very little product goes a long way. we used it on a few details this weekend.
Awesome review! Cant wait to see its durability as I suspect thats the only reason people will be purchasing it.
we will have them in the eco bag 500 ml I'm going to guess with all the cost incurred they will be about $25.00 or so
Thanks for the review Emile. I got mine directly from Avi about a week ago or so. I applied it 1:5 on the leather seats of my wife's Pacifica and also at the same strength to the engine after cleaning it with Zep Purple. I did not have time to take or post any shots as we were leaving that day to drive to Florida. The seats look great and luckily the kids did not force any water proofing testing on them. They look great and feel great however.
Great review Emile,Thank You. Super excited to give the PERL a try. I have been patiently waiting the arrival of this product. Taking any pre-order's Phil?
