Carnauba Hazing after sitting in the hot sun?

For those in warmer climates like Ca, SC, FL, GA, etc...

After applying carnaubas, even when I apply thinly and let cure for long hours, if I let the car sit in the sun the following day I will get hazing in the hood. Maybe it's due to engine heat too.

For this reason I really use more polymer sealants these days like Zaino, but I really miss the deeper wetter look of my swissvax that's been on the shelf sadly.

Is there any tips you pros can give me on how to avoid this? Or is it just inevitable in warmer sun beaten climates?

You might try a sun friendly carnauba like Poorboys Natttys waxes and see if you still get that.

A wash will most likely remove this, has happened to a few cars I've worked on if it was in the middle of the summer, but after the first wash it's gone and doesn't come back.

    Kind regards,

I find it happens if the car is hot when you apply the wax or if you dont get it all off during the buffing stage.

That usually occurs with higher nuba content waxes. I find a slow final wipedown helps reduce this but some waxes it is just about unavoidable. You can let the vehicle sit in the sun for a few hours and then do another wipedown and this will make sure that it doesn't rehaze. I believe that if you even read ur SV jar, that they suggest letting sit in the sun and then doing another wipedown. Other waxes usually do not have the happen unless they have a high nuba content.

What I do is, after the initial buff off, is I wait an hour, then do a second, final buff, using chilled water or QD - read this recommendation from Dom of Dodo Juice to help with Supernatural sweating.

Do a chilled distilled water wipe down and you should be good to go:thumb:

QD or distilled water. Some of the wax guys call it sweating, it the oils in the wax coming to the top.

It is same as spritzing the car down with a QD and wiping except you are using a spray bottle with very cold water.

I use the chilled water method when I want to lay down 2-3 layers of wax fairly quickly. Works a treat!
