I spent Sat & Sun detailing a Mk I GTI for a previous client of ours. No long write-up with zillions of pics this time as I had a lot to get done this weekend... :sorry: A few post wash/clay/clean pics illustrating the paintworks general condition... After getting everything cleaned up it was into the garage to find a suitable combo to correct the paintwork. At some stage the car had been sprayed and the paintwork was probably of medium hardness, but with plenty of pretty deep RIDS and lots of swirling. 106FA and SIP on both yellow and green pads did an admirable job of cleaning up most of the swirling, but the RIDS remained. With that in mind I elected to do a 2 stage polish on this one. 3M FCP (Fast Cut Plus) on the green compounding pad, followed by SIP/FA (50/50) on the yellows. This produced acceptable results although there were still quite a few of the deeper RIDS that I wasn't willing to chase. 50/50 after 1 hit of FCP and 1 hit of SIP/FA Before and after of passenger side front fender With the correction completed at around 9pm on Sat evening it was time to call it a day. Sunday morning saw the final few items attended to before being rewashed and dried and then finished off. Paintwork got Jetseal topped with Pete's 53, trim was treated to 303 Aerospace and tires got Meg's Endurance Gel. A few snaps from inside the garage Some outdoor pics in the sunlight... Close up...Some RIDS still remained unfortunately Final shot Thanks for looking :thumb:
