i was wondering how you guys care for your sheepskin wash mitt. do you wash them with mf detergent in the washing machine with the towels?

I just got mine from DI and dont know if i should throw it in with my load of mf towels.

    thanks for any helpful posts

i just rinse it clean and let it air dry, im thinking the washing machine might screw up the mitt.

Washing machine will really screw them up. Big chunks come up missing on them. Not pretty.

I wash mines with Mane and Tail. It makes my mitt shine like Orion's belt.

I'm watching this thread with interest, since I've got a super pimpy Raceglaze mitt on its way to me.

Side note: I knew a girl years ago who shampooed with "Mane and Tail." It smelled like green apples - her hair smelled good. But looking back on it, she kind of had a horse face. Which is a shame.

Rinse it thoroughly with cold water until its clean and hang to air dry. Once a week I throw it in the wash with my window/drying towels. Wee bit o laundry soap and hang to dry. After 9 months it still looks like new.

Lamb's wool Care Instructions- rinse with cool water after each use and allow to air dry inside out. Do not machine wash or dry. Never let it sit in water for a long period of time. Always rinse thoroughly and squeeze out as much water as possible, while making sure not to wring and twist the delicate construction. As it’s hanging to dry, occasionally use my palms to “comb” down the fur so that it doesn’t stiffen as it dries

after i'm done (haven't used one in a while) i'll put the end of the hose in the mitt and hold the cuff tight and let the water flood the soap/debris out and then gently squeeze any remaining water. then i hold it firmly and swing out all the water out as well, and then use a pant hanger and open up the cuff and clip one side of the mitt...

I hang mine using a modifed (folded) metal clothes hanger (take the middle section and bendupwards to hook sorta like a W shape). You slip the folded section in the interior and then hang it to dry.
