I cannot decide which tire dressing to buy.
    1) Griot's Car Care Vinyl and Rubber Dressing
I love this stuff, I have used it before and thought it left a magnificent dry matte look. Probably the finest looking dressing, as it has almost no wet look to it. Purely natural rubber look. Smell is really not there though.
    2) Swissvax Pneu....I love all swissvax products, and this does look very nice, and I hear it smells oh so amazing, BUT it tends to leave a more glossy finish than Griot's
SO I was wondering if I could do a matte finish with the swissvax? If so I'd use it just for the smell and the bottle!:applause2:
    Somebody help me!

JL is telling us that Pneu looks a lot like the Tropi-Care tire dressing. I just bought a gallon of it and love it.

Try Surf City Garage Beyond Black Tire Pro, it's cheap and there's a chance you might stick with it. Comes in various sizes.

Zaino Z16. You will never look back. It's that good....

I prefer Zaino Z16. However, Hi-Temp White Luster used undiluted produces a similar result at a fraction of the price.

Griots tire dressing will give you a shiny look, you just need to put on multiple coats. put about three lines all the way across one of their blue sponges, wipe halfway around the tire, do three more, then do the other half, let it sit for a little bit, then do about 4 lines on the pad, and go around the tire one more time.

I've always liked some good ole TW Platinum tire spray. Hard to find. I've got some Tropi-care Tire and trim dressing that I've read alot of good things about (JL, D2G). We'll see.

I love the Tropi Care Tire Dressing and it does look almost identical to SV Pneu.

Good thread as I'm starting to get a tad bored of Optimum Tire, need something with a bit more shine

I don't know... tire shine is just tire shine to me. I've used Armor All Tire Foam, TW Platinum, PB's Bold N Bright, PB's Natural Look, Stoner's More Shine, D2G's tire dressing and some others I can't seem to remember. :shead:

I'm always open to new products but I think I always end up going to what gives me the best value and look combination.

+1. JL gave me a sample of the Tropi-Care dressing to try, and it's great. It looks just like tires that you might see in a tire store - they look new, black, and like they're just...tires. It looks just right to me.

Before trying the TC stuff, I was, and still am, a big fan of Stoner "More Shine, Less Time." Partly because I like the aerosol can, but mostly because you can "tune" it to your liking. A single pass leaves them looking dark and matte. More passes, more gloss. Easy to find and inexpensive, as well.

I think shiny tires look terrible. My recommendation is Swissvax pneu. It's expensive, but very good. It also lasts a lot longer than most.

I really don't think Pneu is all that expensive. It has a nice look to it, not too shiney, but not matte, just how I like it. Compared to the other SV products, it's relatively cheap and you only use about 3-4 sprays per tire so that one bottle will last you a long time. I think Pneu is about the same in looks compared to Z16.

I have found that most water-based vinyl, rubber, and plastic (VRP) dressings leave a similar finish; matte to semi-glossy depending on the number of applications. Accordingly, solvent-based VRP dressings also leave a comparable finish; semi-glossy to glossy. Consider the evidence presented in this thread thus far; I have indicated Hi-Temp White Luster looks the same as Zaino Z-16 , Matrix808 indicated Zaino Z-16 looks the same as Swissvax Pneu, and JL and Karl both indicate Swissvax Pneu looks the same as Tropi-Care tire dressing. All of these products are water-based VRP dressings. Comparatively, consider solvent-based dressings such as Armor All Xtreme Shine, Black Magic Tire Shine, and Meguiar's Hot Rims Tire Shine; these are all solvent-based tire dressings and deliver a similar high shine appearance. Additionally, in my experience, all water-based VRP dressings have the color and consistency of milk, whereas all solvent-based VRP dressings are clear and have the consistency of oil. It may be possible there is little variation from one manufacturer to the next in the formulation of these products.
