Can clearbra be polished and/or waxed?

I searched but can't find any info.

I'll be detailing my buddy's 2006 5-series this weekend, and was wondering what to do about the clearbra? The clearbra already has lots of swirl marks as well as bird poop stains that wouldn't wash off. I adviced him to replace the clearbra since it really makes the car look bad, but he wants to keep it.

I'll be using the Flex and Menzerna product line. If I can, what speed should I use for the Flex? And which Menzerna product works best....I have Power Gloss, Intensive Polish, Final Finish, Finish Glaze, and FMJ.

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on who you ask. 3M says not to polish it or apply any wax to it. However, many people do both. If you do polish it, I wouldnt use anything aggressive and dont heat it up. Also, some waxes can cause the clear bra to yellow, same with plastic such as headlights. So use something with no dyes and something which provides UV protection. The Zaino sealants would be a good choice here.

To remove minor scratches in the film (tape the edges of the auto mask when polishing the vehicles paint) Use Menzerna Final Finish Polish / Super Finish (PO106FA) and a (POC) Black Finishing foam pad 1000 RPM do not use any downward machine pressure and maintain a fast linear motion. It is important not to apply a lot of pressure to the film as this may lead to burning of the surface. Use a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol to clean out the edge

Alternative - Novus Plastic Scratch Remover with a LC White pad using a PC speed 4.

When waxing around a clear bra, mask off the line just a little over the edge with blue painter's tape. Wax will leave a white line on the seam, use painter’s tape to mask the seams before polishing / waxing and wax the film and uncovered portions separately to keep from wax build-up.

When you remove the tape just wipe off the wax on the paint. If you accidentally wax over the seam, use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and a Q-Tip or a damp micro fibre towel and rub it off.

Maintenance / Care - Zaino Z-CS Clear Seal - wipe on, and wipe off (WOWO) walk away, no buffing, just allow to air dry. Use on paint, glass, wheels, plastic, clear bra, or trim for the protection, durability, slickness, and gloss that Zaino is most renowned for. All surfaces are protected against potentially damaging exposure to sun or ultra-violet light with UV inhibitors.

Tape the edge of the protective film so you dont jam any wax underneth it or peel up an edge when your polishing is super important. I vote for zaino aswell. Also if your still on the fence pm nica he can explain more if the video isnt enough. goodluck m8.

Wow...thanks alot for the helpful info guys. I'll make sure to test a small area near the bottom first for a little trial and error. The owner told me not to bother, but I would like to surprise him if I can.:worship2:

PS....no wonder I didn't find alot of info using "clearbra" Search....should've used "3M protection"

Just wanted to thank you guys again for the advice :worship2:, and let you know what happened.

I did my buddy's 5 series clearbra last weekend, and used the green LC pad with Menzerna Final Polish and Flex (speed at 2). It turned out great. I went over the hood portion twice (polish, wipe, and polish again), and it actually got rid of about 3/4 of the swirl marks. I didn't want to push it and quit there.

For the bumper portion, where there was a bird poop or something stain, I went over it several times with a 4" pad nd Porter Cable (speed at 3.5), and this time put a little more pressure on it since the stain was so bad. I ended up removing over 90% of the stain. From about 10' away, you can't even tell there is a stain.

From 10 away, my buddy says he can't even tell the clearbra on the hood was present (I could, but why ruin his fun).

    Thanks again.
