Get a backing plate and a set of pads. I'm kinda liking the 5.5in pads. I would get atleast Black, White, and Orange. Blue and Green pads are also nice to have.

Check the sponsors here. They all have great customer service and offer DB member discounts.

Do a search on something like 'pads' or 'pad recommendation' . This question comes up in some form or fashion at least once a day it seams like.

the basics are definatley a backing plate , orange, white, and black pad, but i started with some green, red, and orange ones. Basically a light cut, polishing one, and finishing pad.

Phil, Regarding the 2 yellow pads, do you think we would get a quicker "cut" out of the 105 with the yellow?

My opinion. As far as the 205, I would skip it. Replace it with Menzerna 085rd. You can use 105 with Orange (or Yellow), then stay with 105 and step down a pad or 2 (white) then go right right to Menzerna 085rd black. 2 polishes, 3-4 pads and you're set.

yes our Uber Yellow works great with M105 and it does cut quick.

I would say with a PC PO106FA will work nicer than PO85RD as there is a bit more bite.

This is true ... especially if you have soft paint. My car's paint can only be finished with a 85rd on a blue uber pad with my makita. If I'm using my pc, I can finish it with 106fa on a blue uber with no issues. I can finish it with 106fa on a green uber, but I have to watch my pressure.
