So with the warmer months upon us now, and the bugs and pollenout and about my car gets absollutly filthy with bug splats over the hood and windshield:bat:. I like using bug and tar removers but everyone that i know of strips any protection and I'd hate to "scrub " my paint and swirl it a bit. I have heard Megs body solvent Makes bugs melt away from the car with no effort, but I believe it strips lsp's as well. So what do you guys do about the bugs? any comments on the body solvent

Surf City Grime Destroyer is great for bugs. It works better if you dillute it 1:1. I'm using it on my car as we speak ... lol

my offense has been: keeping the lsp topped up. Get bugs off of the surface within 24 hours. I personally use onr at qd dilution.

yes it does ... but I don't think there's a product that will remove bugs without affecting the protection. Like petkel said ... if the LSP is still protecting, you should have a lot of issues removing bugs.

onr at qd dilution works great for this purpose. I also use it to clean bird poo ... I saturate the area and then use a mf to remove the residue (blotching it).

anything strong will strip your LSP protection, so I strongly suggest you have a coat of a durable sealant (DG 111 or 105), then top it off with wax...depending on how you clean bugs and how often you do it, you can just get away with using ONR QD mix, soaked for a few minutes and then wiped off, or use something stronger (Surf City grime destroyer, Optimum Power Clean, 1Z Anti-Insekt) and reapply your LSP.

I've started in the last couple weeks using Poorboy's World Bug Squash.

Haven't had a splat yet that it will not clean off.

Per a message on another forum, if mixed at it's working dilution (3:1) it will not strip wax

Do you have any of the CG Citrus Wash soaps? 2oz of that + 30oz water. Spray it on, let it dwell, and then wash the front of the car as you normally would.

Wash media is also as important as the product you use...a bug sponge will safely remove bugs. The combination of the wash soap in a spray bottle and a bug sponge should take care of bugs easily without stripping LSP.

PB Bug Squash was always great to me, so was optimums power clean. Actually now that I type this, Power clean on a hot day dried - I panicked as I was moving super fast from the heat, but it was just too hot. NO problems, ONR wash, and some more Powerclean kept moist, no stains, no nothing just bug removal. OPT Powerclean is simply impressive.

To remove - pre-soak heavy bug contamination with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) soaked towel(s) and let dwell for 4-5 minutes before removing. Then use a Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Pad and an Optimum No Rinse (ONR) solution, 2oz per gallon / distilled water. It’s completely harmless to the paint or glass surfaces, a very efficient and safe way of removing harmful baked on bug debris due to its non-abrasive nature. The open-cell construction 'grabs' foreign matter on your cars paint surface and safely removes it.
