    Delgiorno12 Birth of a Detailer

I have been detailing for a while, have my own business i do part-time and have a good client base. I have been out of it for a little while as i was away playing ice hockey, but but my question is. I have the flex PE14-2-150 rotary now and used to have a PC but ended up selling it. I am in the market again to get another orbital and cant decide whether i want to just get the flex orbital as well or if i should just go ahead and get another PC or like a Griots one or should i get the flex and PC or Griots? Price isnt a problem(not trying to sound cocky). Let me know what you guys think! Thanks

If you dont want to go with the Flex 3401, go for the Griots machine. Its more powerful and has a lifetime warranty

Do everything by hand. It's by far the cheapest route.

I agree. Machines are overrated and make you lazier too.

flex is a quality manufactured piece and should last longer. i still use both da and orbitals. am using the 14 2 150 a lot more now and love the results

yea i still am gonna use the PE14, i love that thing, but what my question i have been trying to ask, and havent really gotten a definite answer is...since i use the PE14 a lot, do i necessarily need the flex da, or will i be alright getting the griots, since the PE will do most of the work.

Griots. More versatile with the less costly BP and those small 4" pads come in handy.

If you already have and use a rotary mostly, the Flex DA is a mute point. The Griots has more power than the PC and a lifetime warranty but is also more prone to breaking-so buy two. The PC has less power but will get the job done thanks largely to advancements like MF cutting discs and they rarely break.

haha so i guess for the price of the flex da, i mine as well just buy 2 griots? and still be less than the flex da. Ill do that!

I have the Makita9227C Rotary, the Flex Rotary you have, the Flex 3401VRG (you are asking about), and the Meguiars G110V2.

I use the Flex Rotary more often than the Makita because its smaller, shorter, and easier to maneuver around things faster.

For Finishing polish, sometimes something really fine like an AIO, or even a mild cutting glaze like EZ Creme, the Flex 3401VRG with my 5" Backing Plate is hard to beat especially since it has forced rotation. And now, they have started selling a backing plate kit that allows you to use the standard 6" and a 4" pad, but not the 5" pad.

For those small areas where you really want a smaller "footprint", I find that the Meguiars G110V2 is perfect there, and it can use the 6", 5" 4" and 3" pads. Yes, its not as powerful and maybe not as powerful as the Shurhold or Griot machines, but I have no problem making it work where I want it to anytime.

I am not a hobbyist, or casual user, I have a business and its busy year around.. Part of being a Detailer is also being able to adapt different things and techniques to the job at hand, that may be totally different than what you used and did on that job the day before, so flexibility with all these tools is something that has to be considered as well.

Good luck, I am sure you will make the right choice/s !

You could just throw a dynabrade head on your flex rotary.
But if that's not really what you're in the market for, the Griots
    is a nice machine.

Just hire someone who does this professionally, so you don't waste your time and money........ you can go sit on your boat all day instead of detailing your car.
