Has anyone here used these pads? I would like to know what's their cutting/polishing ability. I trying to find something with less cut than a green uber pad, but more than a blue uber pad.
White cuts less than blue in the 6" pad variety. It's a 90PPI pad where the blue is 70PPI and black is 80PPI. http://www.buffandshine.com/foam-pads-grip-foam-p-76-l-en.html
I ordered some 5.5" from ADS. Their description doesn't match the description on the Buff & Shine website. ADS states that the 5.5" is a polishing pad and places it between the green and blue buff & shine foam pads.
I know. More baffling is the 4" white matches the 6" cutting ability according to ADS. 5.5 seems to be an oddity.
They call it a finishing pad. I'd use it with sealant. It's softer (higher ppi) than the black even! And most folks seem to finish with blue (uber) here.
I order some BS white pads to try too, should be here tomorrow. This one here http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/591g.html
I don't, I'm going by the 6" since the 6 seem to match ADS's listing for 4" and I've got Ubers (6" B&S) The 5.5" white pad seems to have more cut than the green (according to B&S) which isn't what you want. you want something in between green/blue.
Even more oddity. B&S says the 4" Orange is heavier in cut than Yellow, where ADS says the opposite. Foam Pads 4" Dual Head Foam Cyclo foam pads durafoam cyclo pads foam pads for the cyclo buffer Buff and Shine
And even more oddity: Results for Machine Pads The 4" Hex pads are B&S pads, and Orange is marked heavier cut than Yellow. :/
Mindflux ... I guess we are not the only ones that can't figure this out. http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-detailing-product-discussion/124444-pad-comparison-ads-4-pads.html
I wish this stuff was standardized. I don't even want to compare them to LC. I just want the vendors to agree on what color is what cut for the pads they sell. Yellow/Orange should be "X cut" regardless of size.
I had contacted ADS a while back on their descriptions and they agreed the Buff and Shine descriptions should be what they should be using. They never updated their web page.
Yeah it's definitely not where you want to be. Though if you have Green/Blue and you want something in the middle your best bet is just find a polish/pad combo that gives you the cut you want. There's *only* 10 PPI difference between those two pads, making something with a 5PPI difference I'd think nobody (but you, that is) would buy it.
