I tested out Brown royal today 1:3 diluted and agitate with various brushes

    process was
    • wet wheels
    • apply cleaner, let it sit for 1 min
    • brush
    • rinse
    • inner wheel well spray with cleaner, sit for 1 min
    • brush
    • rinse
    • also did the tires while cleaning the wheels

this is my co-workers 2000 vw jetta. he stored the wheels over winter dirty like this.

it didn't get the crayon off the wheel

for the most part the face is clean, still some brake dust on some groves, maybe claying or full strength will do the job or jus more agitation.

I've been thinking about getting this instead of the sonax, but I still have a gallon of WB. Have you used Meg's WB? How does it compare?

No but that's on my wish list. $40 for 2 gallons, not bad. And doesn't smell bad at 1:3.

I think sonax is very cooool, but $20 for 16.9 oz? and it can't be diluted. 2 or 3 cars, the bottle is gone. brown royal is no brainer for me at this point, plus its safe on all wheels on 1:3.

I have used both. I feel like WB is a tad stronger but Brown royal is safer to use and is really good on tires. The first time I used Brown Royal I thought I was going to pass out in front of my house. I had no clue it was going to make me cough and gag so it hit me out of no where. This was last year before people started talking about it so I had no clue. Because Brown Royal is brown in color, it will stain light colored concrete in the area that you are working in if you don't spray that area clean.

It didnt smell bad to me, did you use at full strength? or maybe they have a new formula, I don't know, but its better than the acid used in my dealership, that shit gets to my lungs

I always used it at full strength. I was only using it on wheels that were really bad so I figured full strength was the way to go. I guess I am just giving more of a heads up to those that are going to try it.

    Thanks for the original post.

3:1 is pretty darn effective, but once you go Brown Royal @ full strength, it's like dropping a nuclear bomb on the wheels, and it will feel that way on your lungs. Make sure you have good water pressure or there may be some brown stains left-over on the wheels and your driveway (Brown Royal loves to cling).

This is why I have dropped Brown Royal and currently replaced it with Espuma Revolution. High-alkaline cleaner that works great on brake dust, tires, and general road grime, doesn't make me cough nearly as much, and rinses off clean and easy.

BR is still a better touch-less wheel cleaner, though.

Can this product be used in a foaming spray head? Or does it just not foam up? Interested in it for sure!

    It's not a foaming product.

If you're looking for cling, you don't have to worry, Brown Royal clings to the surface very well. If you just want foam, you're not going to be a happy camper.

Trust me you dont need this stuff to foam up. I do have to admit i used it 1:1 on really dirty M3 rims and at one point the wind started to blow as i was spraying it on the wheel, lets just say i was choking for a minute or so.

I apply brown royal to just 1 wheel at a time so it doesn't have a chance to dry and leave any brown stains at all. I just spray it on the next wheel before i get the power washer to rinse off the one i just scrubbed, this way it has the 1 minute dwell time they suggest.
