Anyone wash their cars with a large boar's hair brush?? It says on the item description that they're c/c safe. Just wondering what you guy's opinions are of using this. Its pretty cold down here in MS and I really really need to wash my car. Heath in need of
Suck it up big guy!! I just wear nitrile gloves. They are enough to keep the chill off when dipping my hand in the bucket. I've tried brushes in the past and found I was always having to touch things up with my mitt anyway.
I like mine but honestly I really only use it for the roofs of SUVs and maybe the windows. Everything else gets a grout sponge or Zymol sponge. Like 911 said if you try to do the whole vehicle you usually end up missing several spots regardless of how diligent you are.
Thats what I was thinking too. We wash our ambulances with some big brushes ( i know, its like getting a suppository when I use them) and there are usually spots that we've missed when we're done. I guess I'll just use warmer water:devil:
Hey heath, i would like to attach a thread that i saw on topia...of course i give all the credit to superbee for the washing method...however i dont know if it will help, but he has something about washing with a brush in here...still sounds like a lot of playing with water which is kinda the obvious point of not to do here...but still an interesting read...a great insight..although i would shy away from the citrus wash dwelling and not removing LSP, in my experience it has done exactly that. Great link. If I may say something about washing with a brush. Regardless of your chosen tool for washing, wether it be a sponge, MF mitt, lambswool mitt, or brush, if you do whatever you can in the pre-rinse stage to remove any loose grit and debris and you use the two bucket method for washing, the chances of marring the paint are greatly diminished. I washed a black Harley F350 for a client every week for 2.5 years with a brush before it needed any kind of correction and even then it was cleaned up with 106FF. Take advantage of the equipment available to you from Phil and Chris, throw in a little common sense and you're golden.
I use one of the griots boars hair brushes. I use it in conjunction with their crappy 14 dollar foam gun and my car is pretty much always spotless. its very gentle on the paint especially if you pre soak with some soap
I only use it for my well-maintained wheels. Even then I hardly use it. It is definitely a great tool for light maintenance work though.
