Those are some sick cars. M3's are killer to bad they are expensive . . . . . and that Benz is sick too! Are those your cars or vehicles you worked on?
C63 > M3 but not a fan in black, the problem is all the chrome since this is a detailing forum - car was wearing Z-AIO + layered Z2-Pro + P21S (which muted the reflectivity quite a bit - that was the last time i used P21S) had alot of fun with my C63, the sound especially, its a much more characterful engine than whats in the M3 these days its gone now though....paving the way for a more powerful daily
too flat and monotone compared to the C63 ive owned a few M and AMG cars now, and the C63 is the best yet when i first bought it, people were doing double takes walking on the street - they couldnt believe that sound was coming from a little merc YouTube - Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG sound Acceleration ! YouTube - C 63 AMG Sound
I LOVE the sounds that come from the new 63 AMG cars, the engine roars like a lion !!!!!!!!!!! But I also really dig the newest M3...8K+ rpm NA V8 is quite a pimp and you can get it in regular manny tranny.
old news BMW had a 400hp high revving NA V8 with a 6 speed manual 10 years ago in the E39 M5 unfortunately the way the german hp power race is going, together with the economy and need to lower R&D costs, has spelt the end of development for the NA engine all the latest M cars (well if you can call them that) have gone FI, and now AMG will be going FI on their 6.2L V8 to chase bigger numbers
Stock vs stock c63 for sure. But the m3 sounds amazing with a exhaust. The c63 is more muscle car sounding and the m3 sounds more exotic. Both are great in different ways.
ive heard both cars in person and stock exhaust note of the c63 kills stock m3. i love both cars but the first time i heard the c63 coming down the street i was mesmerized
It's not old news! The E39 M5 had a 4.9L 394hp V8. The new M3 is a 4.0L 414hp V8 that revs to 8,400rpm. The E39 went to 7,000rpm which was great for its time, but this new V8 is smaller and lighter, and puts out 20 more horsies than the E39 V8 M. You also get maximum torque at 3,900rpm, which isn't even half the max revs. Pretty amazing if you ask me....
I'd say it's an AMAZING engine, however a car shouldn't be based just on the powerplant, you got to look at other components of the car as well.
Do they bond properly the zaino and p21s? I've been told zaino isn't compatible with other brands.... Kc1337... wicked ride dude! Slap an Audi S5 in the middle and you're set!
The M3 engine is indeed amazing. I have driven the v8 version of the Audi R8 and the current M3 is more fun, IMO. The engine revs SO freely! Also, as Jeremy Clarkson has said, the AMG is feels like it is trying to kill you and you are always thankful to arrive at your destination alive (close to that) while he has also said that the M3 makes an F16 jet look like scrap metal technologically speaking . Bottom line though is they are both great cars with different focuses. The M3 is about speed, handling, driver involvement. The AMG is more of a brute force, eat anything alive (including the driver) type of car. For me, no 6MT and no coupe means M3 would be my pick. For others, it would be the AMG.
I agree, the M3 is a more complete package in all aspects in my opinion. I bet the big torque of the Mercedes 6.3 V8 is probably really nice but I am sure it lacks the character of the S65 V8, it just begs you to wind it out in every gear. For me the lack of a manual transmission is also a deal breaker. I bet the new Audi V8 in the RS5 is an awesome engine 450HP from 4.2L puts it as a higher specific output then even the 450 HP 4.4L S65 V8 in the M3GTS. If they make the RS4 with this engine and a 6MT I would entertain owning one........ that is if the F30 M3 dosen't come in a sedan. P.S. Heath, I didn't know you hung round here...... are you a detailing fanatic like me?
Yea, 7000 rpm is really nothing at all. GM has pushrods doing 7000rpm from the factory. The M3's engine is a great engine, it would be spectacular in a a Z4 or something similar. Id love to put one in a Factory Five Cobra replica, enlarge the engine to 5.0L+, that would be fun!. But paired with the E90 M3, its horrible underwhelming. These are still sedans with 4 seats and a lot of weight. A heavy sedan feels inadequate with a high revving powerplant. The M3 feels weak. As a daily driver I prefer the C63. The lazy power with throaty bellowing exhuast note is very pleasing in traffic. For a wknd toy, Id want an M3. But I wouldnt want a M3 for a toy, as it weighs just too darn much. What I really want is a Z4 M with the M3's powerplant, which they dont make. So for me, the C63 is a much better car.
High specific output is a great claim on paper, but in the real world its less important, as it has many downsides...
