Ok, I finally got around to Winterizing my mothers 2010 MKX..... when she first got it 6 months ago I stripped it and applied one coat of Blacklight, and wiped down with V7, I did not touch the car for 4 months, she had her Gardner wash it every so often (lol don't ask). Anyway at the 4 month mark, I washed the car and I was still getting some decent beading... Topped off with a wipe down of V7..... washed it yesterday and there was still some decent beading on the car. Here is the thing, it has been 90+ degrees almost daily with spikes of 101-104 plus it is very dusty on the ranch so it got beat up pretty good, so I was fairly impressed I had some level of protection on the car after very minor maintenance. I gotta say that is pretty decent for any product, anyway I stripped it off and put a coat of BFWD, ill be interested to see how that fairs through or relatively dry cold winters.
I had 2 coats of BFWD on my mustang GT Karl and it was applied in the early fall and lasted through the winter here in El Paso. We have almost exactly the same weather as you do over there. In the summer its very dry, dusty and hot up to 110 degrees here, and in the winter we get little to no rain or snow and it is still very dry and dusty LOL. But in the winter we can get as low to 5 degrees here, this last winter we broke the record for the coldest in the past 50 years. I remember we were in the negatives some days, even had some severe power outages here.
I have to drive 3 hours to get to snow during the winter LOL........... and that is so I can snowmobile.
Maybe a winter house swap could be worked out... Heck I'll settle for BC. My parents used to live in Langley, they didn't liked the rain but I'd gladly take the rain over the bitter cold, snow, ice, sleet, bitter cold, did I mention bitter cold? lol
LOL, Ive always thought that would be cool, to snowmobile down my street, but I think it would get old after about a week........
