I'm getting ready to do my buddies Porsche 997 twin turbo in Black (A1). It has 9,300 miles, he is the second owner, and it has mild to moderate swirling in the paint. I know without pictures it's hard to offer recs, but I could use some help from those that have corrected these cars before. I uber pads, a number of yellow, green, blue, black. I have 5.5" and 4" surbufs, Meguiars microfiber cutting discs, D300 compound, menzerna sip/203s/106fa, m105, M205. I also have a Flex 3401 DA and a PCXP. I was thinking the D300 compound on a MF cutting disc, then 106FA on PCXP. Maybe Flex with a green uber and 203 or yellow with 203s then 85RD and and uber blue? The reason why I'm asking is because I'm going to have to pack up all this stuff from my place and take it to his house to do so I'm trying to minimize the amount of crap I need to take with me. Thanks for your help.

A good tip for you - Take all the crap with you - you just never know what will work.

Porsche is good to work on, the MF system should work fine. How many hours do you have to do it?

From my experience, Porsche paint is not hard at all, more medium to soft if you will. Unless its hammered, You should be able to get away with the green ubers/SIP or 203S and follow up with blue uber/85rd. Take the yellow ubers and 105 just in case. The PC should be able to handle it but I'd take both in case.

That's allot of crap to take :)

I plan on getting there early, 7am ish, and working on it into the evening. He has a nice big garage space to work in. Definitely only one day though.

    Thanks for the help.

If you don't want to lug a lot of stuff, yellow ubers with 105 or Power Finish and follow up with Blue Uber and 106. That should take care of everything short of gouges in the paint and keep it simple enough to complete in a day.

His paint is definitely not hammered, but there is light to moderate swirling for sure. I haven't inspected the paint that thoroughly looking for other RIDS/marring/etc, but he said he would be happy with 50% of the swirls out. I told him that's a no brainer for sure. That's great to know I should be able to get by with the green uber with sip/203 then blue 85rd. I'll have the yellow and surbufs as backup, but I'm hoping I don't have to go that drastic. I really appreciate your help and insight.

I think what I'll do is throw all my stuff in my trunk and just see what works best when I go. I don't want to be pissed that I don't have something I needed. My folks in Lakewood, CA have my buffers and pads at their house because I live in an apartment complex without power outlets in my garage, and my buddies place is in San Juan Capistrano 45 min away, so it wouldn't be easy to get the things I don't have if I needed something. I know you've been a big proponent of the yellow with Power Finish, I have a feeling this might do the trick, in which case I'll be set. What about finishing up with a blue uber and 85RD after yellow and Power Finish? Not aggressive enough to clean up the yellow/PF?
