Thanks Scott! This is my second time using it. These defects where not that bad, so I used it at 1500 instead of the 1700 like I did on a vette in the past. 1500 seems to give you a few more seconds of working time. Also I started applying a 3" long application of M105 right to the surface of the paint. I then turn on the rotary to a slow speed and "pickup" the polish with the wool spinning. Rickrack said this works better for him with M105 as opposed to applying the product to the pad. I agree, I just need to work on my technique more. I had a 3-4" wide area in the middle of the hood that I taped off. I was taking readings with my Defelsko Positest DFT Combo. I removed the moderate defects with the 2 passes of M105/yellow edge wool at 1500. I then did one pass of UF with the blue 3M foam pad. I removed the tape, wiped down the area with Z6 to ensure that no tape residue remained. I then took like 10-15 readings on the corrected and uncorrected areas. More then half of the readings showed no reduction in thickness. I tried to take them right next to each other as close as possible. Over half of the readings where the same and the remaining had a reduction of 0.1mil of clearcoat.
Thank you Tonya. It was nice to get a black car done before the sun went down. Thanks P1et! I need to get some on the wife's BMW soon. Thanks Devast8! Thanks GBS! We have been trying to get it done for a while. Thanks dsms! Thanks Pat! Looking fwd to seeing more of your work. Thank you Angelo!
You done an awesome job there and it shows. Sweet reflection shots...Looks like that Megs 105 is a interesting product...
Bryan...WOW...you did the paint real fine...looks like the 105 and UF combo is a great pair... does the 105 feel gritty to the touch....and as far as correcting..do you feel it can take alot of CC off..I ask cause some cars I do have some thin CC from age... I am getting some 105 in the next few weeks when I can maybe do some polishing..the snow and rain here never gives up... Again..great Job..paint is perfect... Al
Thanks Sparkie! IMO the only compound that comes close to M105 is 3M ECC. With the ECC and the same edge yellow wool, I would need to do a 2nd step before ultrafina, so far that has not been an issue with the M105. Thanks Al! M105 does not have a gritty feel IMO, I will check it out again this week and let you know. Please refer to the third post here about CC reduction. Hope the weather gets better for you soon. Thanks Cobra! Thanks Mr P&W! I use a rebel XT, most of the time in full auto mode. One of these days I will learn how to use this camera like it should be.
Thanks! That was my first go w/ the 3403 and I was not too sure about it. I did use it again this past week on 3 cars and am starting to like it alot.
Love that M..really love the results. I did a silver one last year..you just gotta love black. P.S....Try not to let it go so long next time, eh????LOL
