I didn't intend on doing this car on my birthday. I started it last Thursday after work at the Nissan dealership. I thought I was going to be allowed to work on it until completion. I got booted out of the shop at 8pm; it was a misunderstanding with the sales manager. Luckily there was no rush for delivery and I was off this week. Then my daughter and I got the flu and was out of commission (no pun for the car business, LOL) Monday and Tuesday so it just ended up being today to finish it. The car had been keyed from the left front fender to the left rear door continuously. I mixed the pen style touch up pen's base and clear paints onto a plastic cap to form a mixture and then I took a pointed toothpick to get as deep into the scratch as possible. I continued along the whole scratch, getting as deep as I could. The car was a mess for the year of it; there were scratches everywhere and this paint did not seem soft like Nissans usually are?? Anyway, another chance to use and love Megs 105. I followed it up (with the same purple wool) with X3 and did it ever finish nicely. I used XMT 360 afterwards although on the doors I also used Megs Micro polish. I got 98% of it out. There was a small 1-2" area where, if the light was right, you could still see the outline, but for all intents and purposes, it came out great. My pics are CRAP..SORRY..Maybe I need to clean my cellphone camera lens or adjust the exposure, they all look washed out. The Process: Wash: already done for me as was the clay Paint: Megs 105 with rotary using purple foamed wool at 2500-3000 rpm X3 with rotary using purple foamed wool at 1800-2000 rpm Micro polish in some areas using rotary with white foam at 1500 rpm XMT 360 with rotary using black pad at 1000 rpm DG 105 DG AW after curing BEFORES: AFTERS:
No, that is no typo. I have tried it a few times and have used it from about 1800 rpm to 3000. It really corrects quickly at that speed which is good but you had better be paying attention, it'll heat up on ya. I am getting spoiled with it and the X3. Thanks..and I am!! Got my mf's in the dryer waiting for them before going to bed. Tomorrow I'm gonna bleed the clutch on my Suzuki and Friday I have an experimental sample of sealant to try out. Thanks a lot. It was funny b/c I had an audience for this job. The mechanics and others kept coming over to see my progress. It was funny seeing the reaction from people I heard say "He ain't gonna get that out". I didn't say squat..I let the results speak for me:loud::thumb:
Sweet :wicked: man I see what you mean about the end results speak for them selves richy :applause: well done. Hey question for you, what are you wearing on your hands/wrist? Is it wrist guards of some sort? Just wondering why that's all.
Yup, they are..I've got tendonitis right now and they will help clear it up. If I grab my rotary without it, boy do I notice.
Oh okay, I've seen some detailers use these, they tell me it protect there wrists...I'm actually thinking of purchasing one but knowing me I'll probably just forget all about it and just continue to do what I do know..funny how human nature is, till we are in trouble we look to fix the damage, rather then try to prevent issues before they happen :shakehead:
