hey guys. worked on the audi S4 today i had been mentioning in other threads. im pretty damn tired, so the write up will be minimal. i was projecting this job to take me only about 4-5 hours as the guy doesnt want the car polished til the spring after the body work. see pics for reasoning. this would be a premium interior job, as well as a wash and wax. he had asked me how much i charge for just interiors, so i threw him a quote. he responded by saying, "well, could you maybe go a little beyond that and i'll pay you more money?". i replied, yes sir, my pleasure. special attention and car were given to the alcantara, for obvious reasons. working on the alcantara was very tedious. im not sure how i like working with the leather masters alcantara cleaning foam. its fluffier than shaving cream and just kind of awkward to work with. the leather masters nubuck protectant was temperamental as well. i started applying it and it started to gush out of the nozzle in straight liquid form. all over the alcantara. ughhhh. anyways. i opted to remove the front seats as the main concern of the customer was that he had spilled coolant in the rear drivers side floor and up under the drivers seat. getting the seats out and back in this car was a royal pain in my balls. cant wait to lay my makita on her in the spring. she needs some SERIOUS attention in that department. he started telling me how its not that bad, then quickly changed his mind when i put the halogens on her :yikes:. Very nice work on the interior! It looks like that S4 has had a very hard life, and I'm a bit sad for that!
yeah she has indeed had a hard life. apparently the car has taken the life of a drunk homless person in AC too, the owner states . im really hoping the owner will come back in the spring after he gets the body work done, so that i can polish the car. i wish i had time to outine some of the paint defects. light oxidation on portions of the hood, heavy RIDS, swirl-city, pretty heavy marring through out, key mark across the trunk lid, the works. regardless, still a very nice vehicle.
Looks like someone needs a good old fashioned boot f***ing! Its an S4 for gods sake, not a Kia! Great job on the interior.
I agree, lovely vehicle and my favorite colour :druling: Interior looks good, just curious when you removed the seats didn't you have to re-set some codes? I mean to do with the air bags and what not :shead: just curious that's all.
nope just had to pull three plugs per seat (the ones you see exposed in the pictures). the seats were just really a PIA to get out and back in. i probably wasted about an hour and a half messing with them getting them in and out.
I know how hard it is to get the seats removed. I changed all the seats in an s4 avant and it was a pain to remove them. But thats truly one of the best cars audi has ever build
ive taken the seats out of a variety of different vehicles in my time, and for some reason the S4 takes the cake. its not like its overly complicated or anything, its almost like audi engineered them to be really annoying to get out of the car for whatever reason. hey its just s few bolts right. yeah, sure. the hard part comes after you remove the bolts and try to get the rails out of those housings. eff that.
+1 Nice work BBS :worship2: Feel bad for the car... B5 S4's are amazing cars, when treated right (and with 5 figures' worth of aftermarket parts installed - lol)
thanks. looking at your location you might have seen the car around. the owner lives in philly. S4's are amazng cars, especially StageIII ones. damn do they pull. we took a little spirited ride in it after wards and man, all i can say is you are literally smashed back into your seat doing pulls. feels like the front end is about to come up. its heavenly. shit, i could hear that sum'bitch spooling up from like a half mile away in the morning when i was waiting for him to get there. to defend the owner, he actually does take pretty decent care of the car, but was side swiped in an accident. the wheels are in such bad shape as they are his dedicated winter set-up and the previous owner had curbed up the stock wheels pretty good. his summer set-up are BBS CH's :worship2:
