Hey guys, I was just wondering what ways you guys use to remove LSP before washing the car. I have a bottle of Zep Citrus which I'm hesitant to use because it says on the bottle that it should not be used on auto paint, so I would like to hear your thoughts and techniques in removing the LSP from before.

I just normally use my foam gun and put a few oz of CG strong wash and let it sit for a bit and wash it off, or use a few oz of a APC. Then after I dry I do a wipe-down with Griot's Garage Paint Prep.

you could use P21S TAW. or you could use the Zep Citrus. ive dont it a couple times already, and plan on doing it today on my car. what i could recommend tho, is NOT spraying the zep right onto your paint. i use it in my foam gun...like 2 ounces of zep and an ounce of whatever soap i feel like using. then i use it as a pre soak mixture. i did this on that Highlander correction i posted up last week and it came out completely LSP free after a foam and wash. the water was just sitting on the paint, not beading at all. or you could use an LSP stripping type soap, like CG CWC or CWG depending on the concentrations of them you use.

P21S TAW should do the trick...why do you need to strip it all? Most of the time, using a stronger soap, claying, and then polishing does more than enough.

P21S TAW, leave it on for a about 3-5 minutes, then hose down the car. Works great every time and it is safe.

Tropi-Care also has a great LSP stripping pre-wash that is something like $25 shipped for a gallon.

I got some Tropicare Citrus Wash from Dust to Glory and just put it in my wash bucket with my soap. Stripped everything.

I like a mix of CWG and dawn for my 2 bucket... that should do pretty well, then of course clay aids in the process and just before I begin polishing I give each panel an IPA wipedown or two... if the paint squeaks then it usually 100% stripped

You mentioned that you have Zep Citrus. You didn't say whether you have a foam gun or cannon. If you do, use the Zep in it along with your soap of choice (not Dawn) at a 1 to 1 ratio of Zep to the other. That WILL do the trick and it is safe. See my S & S posts, I've been doing it all year with Zep. Might as well you what you have; plus, it'll do ya just fine.

Just because it is beading, doesn't mean the LSP is still present. And in my experience, Optimum Car Wash has removed LSP, approx. 3-4oz. in my foam cannon bottle, and the rest filled with water.
