Just bought my car and the rims are in terrible shape, can you guys give me suggestions on the best products and techniqes for cleaning them. Here is a few pics.
I haven't used it yet but I bet you are going to get a lot of P21S Wheel Gel responses. I hear and have seen on various posts on here that it works very well and is very safe.
I suggest you take the wheels off! They look especially dirty around the lug nuts! It is going to be difficult to to get that area clean unless you remove them. Always start with the least aggressive product you have first. One of the most aggressive products that I have used is Amazing Roll off. I have found it do an excellent job! Once you get them clean make sure you protect them with a wheel glaze or whatever product you have. It will make cleaning a lot easier going forward. Best of luck! Be sure to post some after shots!
I would also recomend P21S Wheel Gel forumula but I'd also recomend this brush, the EZ brush This image came from Eshine  With this brush you'll be able to get all the way inside the rims and leave it spotless, you can use a MF towel a tooth brush well just about anything to agitate the P21S Gell on the face of the rims too. But that's just my opinion. Hope it helps.
I have heard great things about the EZ Brush. I just got one yesterday! If you don't have the EZ brush I have use a Mr. Clean magic eraser. Just make sure you have as much loose dirt off as possible before you use the magic eraser. Additionally, don't use a lot of pressure let the cleaner do most of the work! I would wait for some feedback from some other members. They might have some better suggestions.
That's where I learned how to clean rims to. Its a great process not a lot of wasted time either because you are letting the other rims soak in the gel as you clean the other rims. If that makes any sense. P21S wheel gel, a brush, and elbow grease should do the job, and if you need it the metal polish. You should look into some sealant or wheel wax as well to protect the rims. I would suggest some JS 109. They will be easier to clean in the future too.
Definitely use P21s Gel for the first cleaning. After that, apply a good sealant to them and just clean routinely with car soap. Id get the EZ brush for inside the wheel, then another brush/ sponge for the front of the wheel.
thanks guys for the info, really appreciate this site, its amazing! What did we do before the internet. I've ordered the P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel formula, does anyone have a sugestion on where to get the 3M adhesive remover from? thanks again.
You could try calling Phil at DetailersDomain. He usually has some products not listed in his site. Locally 3m stuff is found in paint and autobody shops, and if not he would send you on the right track to where to find it.
I've the only 3m stuff I've seen at Walmart by me is the adhesive spray. rld you could try calling your local walmart. If I'm not mistaken you could also try calling a Hardware store by your house, as they are likely to have it aswell.:thumb: sorry for any confusion. lol or any thing real obvious.lol :deadhorse:
