I own 2 black cars and I decided this year was going to be the year I went for the ultimate shine. I just ordered a porter cable 7424XP. I am looking for some products that will give me the best shine/wet look I can get. I was considering using chemical guys black light and petes 53 but I want to hear what you guys recommend.

I love black. Some of my fav lsp's would have to be:
Poorboy's Black Hole or Prima Amigo/Prima Hydro - all hide swirls scratches like you wouldn't believe.
Lusso Oro or Vic Red - two very good waxes for black will make the paint look insane!

Congratulations on your plan and your purchases.

We could be of better help if we knew the make and model of the black cars, what color and brand of pads you have or are getting, and what menzerna polishes you are getting or planning to use.

Black is an awesome color when its clean, clear, and shiny. I have had several black cars in my lifetime and have detailed probably 50 since last year alone. I am getting everyone's black car now and its fine because I like the challenge.

So, give us if you want, more detailed info and we can give you advice more suited for your particular vehicles, etc...

    good luck with your project!

Holy Turbocharger, Batman !!!! That thing must sound incredible when it spools up !!! :)

Unless your black cars are really scratched, etc., Menz Power Gloss might be a little too much - If it was me I would be trying out Menz PO83, Super Intensive Polish, which is more in the middle range of their cut range for compounds. But if Power Gloss is all you have, it can certainly work with possibly a not as aggressive pad, Be sure to take an area to test your compound/s pad/s combinations before you settle on one if possible. Power Gloss will tend to dust more than SIP too. All Menz products work great for me and I use them probably more than the other 2 brands I carry..

The Menz PO203s Power Finish is really a nice compound too, and as you already know, cuts less than the SIP, dusts less, etc..
If you really still need to refine more, after, then your Menz 106FA is made to do that and finishes down quite nicely with a little more cut than PO85rd, which is also a nice jeweling polish.

Nice vehicles, you are going to have fun !!! :)

Thanks. Yes the car is quit the machine. Any suggestions on other products such as glazes, sealants and waxes? I was thinking of trying out the chemical guys black light then using a sealant like optimum opti-seal and topping it all off with a good wax like chemical guys pete's 53 or pinnacle souveran

::Off Topic:: What turbo you running on that, 42r? I see that its not finished. I also had an awd 1g talon (or 5), fully built with a 35r@35 psi on E85.

Paint polishing is the main part in making black look good. Waxes and sealants dont really add too much to the over all finish. With that being said, CG Ez creme and BF midnight sun look amazing on black.

I would suggest going one extra step with Mens 85rd and a light pad such as LC's Black polishing pad, I recently began using Power Lock and I love it. Also after sometime swirls are going to appear pretty much no matter how careful you are, so CG's Black Light is great for filling slight swirls on black paint not to mention it's slicker than Owl sh*t.

You asked about C/G Black Light - I recently put it on my Black '09 Grand Cherokee, and it worked really nice, gave the paint just a little more "pop" and the metallic colors under the clearcoat are really looking great.
Dont know what durability it will give me, since this is my first time using it. It was easy to apply with a L/C Hydro-Shred Crimson Pad, on a Flex 3401VRG Random Orbital, and it removed very easily.

I do have much experience using menzerna PowerLock Sealant and it also works really well and has pretty good durability. I always apply this with a yellow foam, sponge by hand.

Have also used a lot of Optimum OptiSeal, and having used Zaino for years previously, this is a lot like their version Clear Seal. Wipe on, dont touch it once you apply it, let it dry. Either of these products work well, and can either be used as a base or after everything you put on the paint has fully cured - stress that - fully cured, which is different from just being dry.

These products work well, give perhaps a little more durability, and are probably the reason why all the other latest, improved, clear coat applications are here today.

    Good Luck !

How long does it take for say opti-seal to cure?

I usually wait at least a hour before topping a sealant. But I know a couple people have topped it within 15 minutes with no problems.
Opti-Seal will give you some of the best beading.

an hour is not bad at all. Does it add any additional shine if you do 2-3 coats of a sealant?

I would prob just do one coat. Then add as many coats of wax as you like.
