What are some good characteristics of a detailing cart? 1. Mostly plastic construction (no rust, etc) so you can wash it if needed? 2. Good casters with locks 3. Ability to mount halogens? 4. built in electrical outlet strip (or add one). 5. number of shelves? 6. storage pockets for chemicals Here is an image of a Luxor cart that is around $120. I know you can get cheap carts at Northern tool but they are sheet metal. The Rubbermaid plastic carts are near $200.
Hey Bunky, Them are some characteristic's I would look for as well. Adams Polishes just came out with their version of a detail cart that has some of them characteristics. They are even offering a pre-release sale for around $120.00+FREE SHIPPING.You have to be a member to take advantage but it looks very decent. I picked up one
Depending on the conditions you work in, make sure the dimensions are right. If it is too wide or too long for your work space, you will have a tough time moving the cart around.
is there a link to the adams cart? I looked at the composite carts at Orchard Supply they were less then $150.00
I went to Northern Hydraulic today. They sell an identical cart to the Seats for $99 and 3 shelf model for $129. They had a larger unit (2 shelf) on sale for $99. It was too large. Some assembly required. NH uses the larger one in their store for stock movement. I am thinking the two shelf version seems more versatile since the space between shelves on the 3-shelf model was only 7.5-inches (I measured it) so you cannot put wash buckets, in them. I have a dolly anyway but nice to know they would fit.
I have the same cart. Mine is about 12 years old and still looks like new. Great buy at $99 as they are made by Rubbermaid. I paid $200 for mine.
Same here Ken. When I was shopping for them about 8 years ago I couldnt believe how expensive they were for plastic and 4 wheels. But its been a great item to have.It will be handy for when Im homeless when the wife sees my stack of reciepts from detailing supplies this year.LOL
