I dont have a favorite backing plate to use with 4" pads. I feel the 2 3/4 is a little small, the 3 3/4 is a little big. If they made something between 3- 3.5 then that would be perfect.

Four inch pads are a must on my car. I use the 3.5 in. backing plate.

4inch pads are wicked and are a must. As for backing plate I can't recall the one I curently have but I'll be receiving a 75 mm (2.95inches) Rotary Backing Plate looks something like this:

lol..man you guys know me to well don't you hahahaha.

I'll have only a few of these backing plates but the thing is that they are not 5/8th thread, they are M14 thread UK style. How I'm going to make this work with my rotary(s) is that I had my machine shop make me an adaptor 5/8th female, M14 male. It looks something like this:

It's identical to the spindle extension that came with the Metabo.

As to if I would sell a backing plate, not sure if people would be interested on the adaptor. I'm having a hard time breaking down the price of the 3M UK pads now if I had to sell the adaptor man that's going to be tough...reason being I own the machien shop so I didn't have to pay for the adaptors, but if I had to I can get the guys to break the cost down for me :D

So to answer the question if I would be willing to sell the backing plate is that I would have to think about it, I'm just not sure it's worth the hasle that's all..not trying to be gready here.

    Whoops, my apologies!

FWIW, I use the cyclo Edge foam pads which obviously don't require a backing plate.
