Just wanted to give everyone a heads up for those that visit Autopia.org. I signed on this morning and received a warning via Firefox that the site is infected with a virus to include 7 malicious Trojans. Detailers beware. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, My anti virus software flagged it and blocked it as well. Somebody let me know if and when it is fixed.
I'm an "OG" over there and I resent that statement! I hope they get it cleared up. I happened to visit tuesday from work and was promptly given a load of spyware without any prompts asking if I'd like to install anything. Took a while to clean up, bleck.
This thread was meant as a warning to other DB members that frequent other detailing sites and was not meant to start a bashing of other forums. Grow up...
I went to the site last weekend and whatever was on there ate my computer alive. I had to buy a new operating system, I was looking to get windows7 anyway so it gave my an excuse but that stuff was horrible.
I was reluctant to make a post like this because I was not sure if the problem was with my PC, this has been going on for over 2 weeks, 2 weeks ago my laptop got it and even that I have all kinds of security software it got inside, is a Spyware about credit card, the problem was so bad that the PC repair shop was not able to remove it, lucky for me they were able to erase the entire program and re copy my files, it's a pretty bad and harmful Spyware. I understand that things like this happen BUT I find it irresponsible that the site still up in the air, someone should take it off the air until the problem has been resolved.:duh:
I had a horrendous virus on my work PC last week. I had to re do the entire thing and it ook me over 6 hours from start to finish. Needless to say, behind on work and what a hassle.
I was trying to log on as well yesterday but I saw that too, I was going to ask you Pat what was going on?
P1et We are NOT alone:crash: I did a few searches and peoples PC's are getting infected right and left, as long as the site is up and running the list of infected PC's is going to be big:waiting: Mindflux My bad you are correct it was late Monday or Tuesday last week
Yeah it ate up my XP Pro work machine pretty well. I went to the site and got a Java loader screen and then BAM, spyware up the wazoo and a virus alert. I cleaned it all up, updated Java (there was an update a while back to fix remote unauthorized installations) and restored some critical Windows files. My machine seems to be acting normal and scans clean, so I think I'm OK for now. Good thing too. I have stuff that requires serial numbers to be requested each time a new install is run (on a fresh machine for example) and it takes days to get the serial numbers back (YAY GOV'T). I can't do my work without those.
Just sucks to be out $120. Plus, it figures once I get it installed and everything I have 3 or 4 friends that could have installed it for free. Oh well I guess its a lesson learned.
I don't really visit that site anymore, but decided to check it out a couple of days ago and my Norton Internet Security detected the virus and blocked it no problem.
