Why not but the homedepot bucket with lid for $4 I think then grit guards for $9. Total is $13 so it's cheaper that way, no?

Do not forget to add about 7 dollars to the grit guard for shipping unless you know a place locally that sells them.

I have the Home Depot buckets but what I like about the AG type buckets is the lid. The Home Depot has the paint bucket lid (pressed on the rim) and the AG ones have a spin on lid that you can sit on. My HD lid is already cracking (from peeling off the top and sitting on it).

Phil (DD) sells a similar bucket with the Grit Guard logo on it.

I think the price is high because someone (Grit Guard) has the patent and then people sell with their logo's on it like the grit guard itself.

Adam's sells a smaller 4+ gallon bucket with a spin on lid for like $25.

Is it a must have...no but has some nice features.

Ace hardware had these on sale the other week for $8 and some change. I don't know if Ace is nationwide or not though.

I use the blue 3 gallon buckets from Kmart and the grit guards fit perfectly. I never needed a 5 gallon bucket to do a wash (and it saves shampoo).

I don't know who is sending out the wrong/bad information about the HD buckets.

Grit Guard fits absolutely beautifully in the 5-gallon Orange Home Depot Bucket. Grit Guard goes all the way to the bottom and "sits" in there, so no floating up when soap/water are in there.

Unless the bucket comes with a Grit Guard, you really have to test-fit before purchasing because the capacity won't determine if it will fit or not.

All things considered, if you want/need two new buckets with Grit Guards and quality lids, this is certainly a good deal. I am tempted to order even though I don't need it.

the lowe's buckets shown here fit the grit guards perfectly, I have 2 of them and they fit in so that they do not move at all or fall out if you turn the bucket upside down, but you can still just pull them right out
