*Please note i have edited this post as best possible while keeping it make sense* Well today my self and The guys from G-tecchniq had a little trip up to Coventry airport and worked together on this brand new Helicopter one week after its delivery from Italy to the UK for its proud new owner, we were there to get a perfect finish to the paint work and then provide it with the best possible long lasting protection too. The air craft was already cleaned ready for us to work on arrival, all we need do is give it a wipe down and we where ready to start the polishing work using the G-techniq P-system, P1 (polish) on a yellow polishing pad was used for the most part, the paint was rock hard on this: My self at work on the nose and Robert checking out my work In the before pics you will see the very fine light swirling from the polishing done at the factory, this was taking away the depth and clarity of the paint and not letting the really fine metalic flake shine through as it should: Before: After: Janis at work on the side: Robert polishing the windows with P1 by hand: Some more before and afters on the paint work refinement: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: There where some small bits of contamination in the paint the was blocked out: This was polished using G-tec wool pad and P1 (pleas note this pic is not refined Yet! ) Before: After: Once the paint was polished to perfection we did a big clean up all panel gaps etc cleaned out and the whole thing wiped down with IPA: Then Janis decanted some C1 in to smaller bottles and i set about applying it to all the paint, trim and plastic screens etc whilst Janis went around buffing off after, As rob was the tallest he got to go up the ladder and do all the top parts : Then a good check around and final buff and there we have it : A big thanks to Robert, Janis and all the guys at G-techniq :thumb: James B
Heh, interesting to see my first helicopter detail! You guys did an amazing job! What is C1? Is it a sealant of some sort?
I really have enjoyed this detail and write up. You have done some very interesting things to say the least. Thank you...:applause:
Awesome detail guys...well done :thumb: Any specific areas when working on a heli or airplane that one should avoid at all costs, must be honest a job like that would scare the jeepers out of me :yikes:
Its more a coating. Optimum "X" is something similar. I have never tried "X" but I have been using C1. It´s a very good product but very expensive.
^^ not quite the same its a crystal lacker coating, hard as once cured and last an age compaired to most
