i thought this would be a good one... This is a 2004 CLK 500. the car is barely driven only on occasions and had only 17K on the odometer! At first sight, the car looked as if it hadn't been washed in at least a few months. The brake dust was very caked on and the dirt on the paint was all dried up and stuck to the paint. If i had a foam canon it would have been perfect to use, but unfortunately i dont own one. enough of me talking and i'll let the pictures speak for themselves Products: Cleaning Exterior -Wash -1Z Anti Insekt -CG CWC -Meg's mitt -P21s TAW -Wheels -CG CWC -P21s Gel -P21s TAW -EZ detail brush -Swissvax wheel brush -OXO tire scrubber -ARO -Wheel Wells -P21s TAW -Meg's APC+ -Meg's Super Degreaser -DD wheel well brush Engine -P21s TAW Clay -Special yellow poly clay -ONR lube Polishing -Exterior paint -Menzerna SIP via Orange über pad (2 passes) -Menzerna PO85RD via blue über pad -Makita 9227C -3M Yellow Foam Backing Plate -1000w halogen lights -Brinkmann Dual Xenon -ISA 50/50 wipedown -DD über MF towels -Racatac LSP -Paint -1Z Glanz Wax -FK1# 425 -Optimum QD -CG 530XL MF towels -Wheels -Swissvax Cleaner Fluid -Swissvax Autobahn -FK1# 425 -CG Barebones (wheel wells) -Optimum Opti-Bond Engine -Meg's Hyperdressing Glass -Sprayaway glass cleaner Interior -Leather Master Trio -1Z Cockpit Before: Here you can see just how caked on all the dirt was The engine bay looked as if it never had been washed... To start off i gave the dirtier parts of the car a spray with P21s TAW and gave the wheels a generous coat of P21s wheel gel. I sprayed off the TAW after about 10 minutes, and then went to have breakfast while the wheel gel worked it's magic for about 30 minutes. After breakfast i gave the car a thurough wash using Chemical Guy's Citrus Wash n Clear. Then while the car was still wet i clayed the entire car (including windows and wheels) using the "Special" yellow clay with Optimum No-Rinse as lubrication Look at how dirty the clay was... After claying the entire car and applying tape to all the edges this is how the paint looked... i didnt think it would have been so bad... As you can see, the paint was in pretty bad shape. I decided first to try Menzerna Super Insensive Polish with an Orange Über pad. it cleaned up pretty nicely with one pass, and two passes left the paint 99.9% perfect. Here's a shot after two passes with SIP and the hood after SIP and Alcohol wipedown another 50/50 I Had to take a break to change the song Two more 50/50's and another A 50/50 on the trunklid After a lot of hard work, sweat, and some elbow grease, here's the final product: Miami beach... Thats all, thanks for looking! Dom
nice work Dom. I got a couple MB's I'm supposed to do next month. Is the brake dust worse or about the same as brake dust on BMW's?
A little sketchy cleaning in a parking lot but man what a nice turn around dude, looks like a Boss's car!
Nice post and excellent job!!:applause: I have a ? Did you photoshop those stars into the pictures to make it look like the sun was really hitting the paint? I'm only kidding, those sparkles glisten nicely off the car. I can't recall anyone else's outside shots where the reflection sparkled that bright.
INSANE turnaround. well played sir. good luck with the competition. funny i was just talking with my girlfriend last night about how i would seriously consider moving to like west palm, miami or something like that, just to get more detailing business and hopefully one day open up a high end shop. dreams? yes. reality? one day.
