A friend of mine thought about selling his Audi, so I said yes to detail it, almost for free.
The car was far from spotless, with some deep scratches and all of the normal swirls.
Planned to use the entire weekend on this one, and the owner was going to help along... mostly as the man behind the camera.

    Washi-washi:
    GritGuard
    Mothers woolmit
    CG Citrus Wash and gloss
    Grime reaper 1:5
    Bilberry 1:5
    Prickbort
    Guzzler Waffle
    HP

    Engine:
    Grime reaper 1:5
    Some different brushes
    HP
    AG super sheen
    Black Wow

    Interior:
    Scholl Purple 9000
    CG new car scent
    Brushes
    MF

    Clay:
Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay & MG lube

    Tires:
    MG

    Makita 9227 rotary

    Plastic trim:
    Black wow

    Paint treatment:
    S03
    MG # 105
    MG #205
    Scholl wool
    CSS white
    IPA wipedown
    SV Crystal Rock
SV Smaragd (Concorso US or BOS..same wax, different names)
    SV Autobahn

    Windows:
    Nanolotus PRO all around

    MF:
A lot from Scandicshin and AG Cobra. Used about 40-50:

    Time spent:
    Almost the entire weekend.

The shirt of the day was sponsored by Swisswax Norway:). Used SV detailing brush in the doors:

Bilberry 1:5.. Mothers wheel well brush is very nice:

    GR 1:5:

    Looking for some surprises:

    3M SunGun brings you outdoor:

    A couple of scratches here:

    Some swirls to:

    Oxidated chrome:

Then over to what I like best.. Masking.. NEEET:

Masked the viskers with some dirty MF. Much faster than using tape:

Looked kinda cool with the tape round.. Maybe I’ll let it stay:

After measuring many cars, I’ve made the observation that normally the paint on the hood is thicker from the “bend” and towards the middle. Se pic below.

    Re painted side:

A little thinner on the front fenders:

    Pinnacle clay:

First a little test with the less aggressive combination. Scholl S17:

First with black scholl pad = nothing. (Notice the fancy ear protective gear. Just plug’em to your head, and you’re protected)

Then with blue scholl pad = took a little of the swirls, but close to nothing on the rds’s:

Then Scholl S03 og scholl wool = BINGO
    [IMG]

The happy detailer after finding the right combination:

    Close up rotary action:

Struggled to get the RDS’s away with the wool, so I picked up ”my little friend” from 3M:

Wet sanded area back to gloss:

    S03/wool:

Some interior cleaning for the photographer:

    3M apron for the owner:

The hood after some wet sanding and two rounds of S03 on wool. The paint on this one is like diamond:

    Still love the gun
    [IMG]

Then over to a layer of MG#205 on white CSS pad:

Since I had trouble getting 50/50 shots on this color, I did some on the black B-pilar.. Very easy spot, but no detail without at least one 50/50:

If the rest of the paint had been like the B-pilar, I would have been done by now:

Before ending DAY ONE i felt like.....

Rocking a little bit. Since I’m putting three layers of CR it was good to get one on the first day(did two layers first day):

Started DAY TWO with Scholl S03 on wool:

Took some time to clean the pad to:

Got a freebee backing plate from Scandicshine earlier that had to be tested. Like it a loot.. Very soft and it follows all edges:

Actually liked it so much, that I used it on some more pics:

Tried to do a 50/50 panel on this color, but extremely hard to get the correct focus unfortunately:

Had to pop the hood and cover with som MF so I did not ruin the two layers of CR I put down the day before:

Little bit lazy today.. Was hard to get me of the stool:

    MG#205 on white CSS pad:

FINALY.. Removing of all the tape:

Door handles with S03 and small scholl wool – very nice.. Spiced up with some 3M sun B)

    IPA wipedown
    [IMG]

A handy little brush from Mothers for removing the residue:

    NanoLotus PRO all around:

Did a cold water wipedown before applying the third and last layer of Paul’s special blend:

Not to bad after two layers:

    Dried before the last layer:

    WOWO motion:

The rest of the car got SV Concorso US/Smaragd/BOS:

    WOWO:

    Some more WOWO:

    Black WOW on plastic trim:

    SV Autobahn on the rims:

    Applied by hand:

    V6'er diesel version:

    Luxury Spa inside:

RS chairs here.. Not bad for a diesel:

A small collection of my waxes:

Finaly – and most important. A very satisfied owner:

Nice work. Car looks good. Wasn't sure I liked the wheels from the first pics, but seeing full shots of the car, they look good on it.

Sweet ride! Question. Why did you apply cold water to the hood?

  4. slanguage

    slanguage OD On Detailing

Cold water will help wax cure faster.

great job!!! It's nice to see that VW keep all the cool cars in Europe ... V6 TDI? Recaro seats on an AllRoad? I want to move to Europe so I can buy a real euro machine.

Amazing write up !!! The owners expression is priceless :) moments to live up to for sure ! Thanks for sharing.

Oh btw when I find when taking pics with lights colours like white and silver s small piece of tape or my finger to focus on when taking a pic really helps or if you have a dslr just flick it to manual. Hopefully this helps :)

Thanks for the tip.. Will try that on the next grey/white car I do:)

If a mod/admin sees this thread, could you please change the heading since I unfortunately put in an "u" in the Allroad:)
