    hi guys,

trying to decide between the 2 products.

my goal is to buy a product for decontamination of the paint surface.

i know aquartz iron cut is suitable for this since it turns purple when reacting with particles embedded in the paint surface.

is the wolf's decon gel meant for the same purpose or is it supposed to be used only on wheels like sonax FE?

    thank you guys.

Wolf's works on paint as well.

Only used Car Pro version of Iron X not sure how similar it is to A Quartz. Iron X turns purple quicker then Wolf does, it is also not as "clingy" as Wolf so it looks like its working "better". I really like Wolf and it's priced better but Iron X is easier to get a hold of and is a reason I will still use it. But I prefer Wolf Chemicals

Yes Iron Cut/Iron X does work faster than ours, but that's because ours is a gel. Ours also contains other cleaners/degreasers that clean other contaminants, so in short ours has "a lot of stuff going on" at once, so yes that does slow it down a bit. Faster doesn't always mean "better" though ;)

There is a difference between IRON X and IRON CUT. Iron X has that bloody effect where Iron Cut does not. I am not saying it doesn't work, but it does not have that bloody effect. Also Iron X is a gel, Iron Cut is not. I love Iron X, and really like wolf deironizer. Both work very well, and would be my choice over Iron Cut. Just my $0.02.

Id prefer the wolfs gel. because its a gel, less product is lost when it drips onto the ground

thank you for taking the time to reply guys! i ended up buying some of both products. i realize that Phil uses Aquartz Iron Cut a lot in his details so that is why i got it. The action shots of the product in the detail threads also persuaded me.

a lot of you guys also backed up the wolf's product, including mr. wolf himself...=)...so i'm giving it a try!

    you got PM.

I have both Iron Cut and Wolf's Decon Gel. I like both products, but I tend to use less of the Decon gel because it clings to paint really good.

IMO, use Iron Cut / Iron X if a car is fairly clean and you just want a quick iron removal. I use Wolf's when a car is really nasty and I want the product to dwell.

I just add about 1oz of the Carpro Iron-X paste gel to each 32 oz bottle of Iron-X spray that I pour from the 5L jugs. It will make the spray a lot thicker and it will cling really good like a gel. It will also make it stronger too. This has stopped the run-off and wasting of product associated with the spray.
