Quick question for those with experience in diluting both APC's an degreasers. For the most part, are they all pretty similar when it comes to diluting them with water?
If you could give me some examples(product name) I could probally help you :cig: Without knowing what products you are reffering to I would only be guessing. And that could prove to be dangerous :duh:
As far as the process of diluting? Yep. Add water first, then the chemical. You will have to check the manufacturer's recommendations as to what surfaces it's safe to use on.
For Zep Citrus and Purple degreaser, I use both at a 4:1 ratio. If you were going to use the Citrus for a more delicate job, you could do it at 10:1.
I want to clean my engine tomorrow, I decided to skip on the Zep today as I didn't feel like going to Home Depot. I'll be using Meguiar's Super Degreaser, what kind of ratio should I use? 4:1?
i wanted to buy some Zep Citrus the other day but every time i read the back of the bottle it makes makes me put it back on the shelf. With it saying it's not safe on carpets and what not but everyone here seems to use it for everything from tires, rims, wheel wells, down to interior stuff.
Hahahaha...you know how many of us (myself included at first) have put the bottle back on the shelf after reading the label? It was recommended to me by guys on here I trust and I made the leap of faith and tried it regardless of what it said on the bottle. I have never looked back. I'm on my 4th or 5th bottle I think. Trust me on this one. As long as you're not foolish and let it dwell on the paint for like an hour or something (who the Hell would with any APC?) then you'll be fine.
APC's and Degreasers offer different dilution levels which vary among different companies. Dilution ratios don't indicate how effective (or not) a product may be, simply the focus of one product over another. Follow the recommended dilution(s) of the manufacturer. In your case, I would say to definitely go with Super Dgreaser at 4:1 as an engine can be quite filthy, even more than it may look.
