I have read so much good things about fk 425 with its anti-static feature. Has anybody tried the fk 2180 or fk 218 sealant before?
I used it twice, over KAIO and clean paint. I was never impressed with it, sorta finiky to use, and didn't provide any indication whether it was actually *on* the paint (ie. no beading, slickness, etc.).
If you order a gallon of the FK-425 they give you a free sample of one thing to try. so read up a little bit before ordering...:thumb:
I tried one (can't remember the #). Applied via PC. Left a nice shine. Don't know about the durability, as I topped it with S100. I still have a sample the the PinkWax to try.
i have'nt tried 2180 or 218, but i just recieved in the mail today a tin of 1000p and the pink waxm i applied 2 coats of the 1000p over clean polished paint and i.m very impressed with it. it leaves a super slick finish especially after a wipe down with 425 between the layers, imho this stuff does'nt get enough press and the price is very affordable. i'm almost afraid to put a coat of the pink wax as i can't imagine it will improve the look, but i'll give it a shot tomorrow. btw it's a very easy wax (sealant) to apply and remove. try some you will not be disappointed.:applause:
Hi blucpe, I found it interesting when you said you gave your car a FK-425 wipe down in between coats of wax. Why. Thanks
Dust2Glory: when you say dilute 3:1 , is it the Speed Wipe 3 parts to 1 part water or is it the other way round ? thanks
i beleive on the instructions on the side of the can it says for better results wipe down with 425 between coats, i could be wrong on that or i heard it somewhere on the forum, regardless it seemed to work well for me, 425 is an awesome product in it's own right, after hearing about it for so long i just had to try it and it did'nt disappoint.
buddy i stand corrected, it says for better performance use 425 as a final wipedown, nontheless i,m not unhappy with how it came out.
Yea the sample product is the way to go. Definitely order a gallon of FK425. I've used it in full concentration for quick cleanups and 1:1 for a great depth and shine between waxings.
dschia, I've used both of them - in fact Finish Kare is one of my absolute fave brands. However, 2180 is definitely not your average Joe sealant. It needs special attention, methodology and application technique. It is very reflective, bright, adds a lot of contrast, definition to the paint. 218 is warmer, just as crisp looking, but it contains a cleaning package as well, which conditions the paint for better bonding.
I also love 2180. According to FK1,that is their most durable sealant. Work it in on the pc on speed 6. Looks fantastic.
