Anybody do anything to theirs? I must admit I got a little wacky when I decked out my porter cable.

The first mod I did was a PC guard from Show Car Detailing. It helps a lot when you're dealing with tight spaces and door handles. Definitely recommend this product. That's kinda where the normal stopped. I was fed up with the vibration and numb hands from the PC so I decided to get creative.

I bought shock absorbing race bike grip tape, the kind you see on like Tour de France bikes. I fastened that around the base of the PC, towards the speed setting and the wire. I then covered it in black electrical tape for aesthetic purpose.

Then it got really weird. I bought the most shock absorbent mountain bike handle bar grip I could find and cut it in half long ways so I could fasten it to the stock pole handle that comes with the PC. I placed the gel grip pieces around the handle, cut it so it wasn't hanging off the end of the pole grip, and then secured it with black electrical tape.

I'd say it cut down on at least 50% of the vibration and I'm pretty pleased with the results. I spent less than 30 dollars and I can use the PC without numbing my hands for a greater period of time, making the detail more enjoyable. I still need to get the bolts that bolt into the housing and stop the vibration of the black shroud though. Anyone know the specific size? Let me know what you think of the mods, sorry I don't have any pictures currently.

I don't know the specific size, but I just brought the side post handle into the hardware store with me, and matched up the bolt. It was a little shorter, but no big deal, as it still tightened down nicely.

I think it was like 23 cents or something.

Only thing I did was fasten bolts to the sides of the housing to make it vibrate less for me. I've been contemplating painting it to match my Makita for quite some time though

    Where are the pictures? LoL.

Hmm, I might think of doing some customizing myself if I'm up for it, hehe.

HAHAHA! I've never even thought about that before. I don't own one but that'd be freaking sweet! You should get Makita decals and all. That'd be sweet!

Took it with my phone, lighting is bad, and there is red all over. Its a nice bright orange. I was tired of how ugly the PC looked so colored it pumpkin orange. I showed it to one of my buddies and and he thought it was a black and decker tool and didn't think it was special haha

lets see what the makita has in store

    The PC's are technically B&D's

Actually anytime a company merges with B&D its original quality goes down..Don't get me wrong the old B8D stuff of the 70's-early 90's was great but after the 00's its quality went downhill.Using nylon parts instead of metal, and trying to reduce R&D to the point of just test fitment practice.

well the PC is the only thing i have that would be considered from B&D. Its being moved down to my jewling machine. Too much vibration at speed 6

The 7424 is a machine made with PC R&D not sure of the newer lineup..But Delta's hit the gutter.I just use my PC for cars with either A thin paint, sticky clears, or bumpers/pillars.
