Good evening fellow detailers! Have been friends with client for several years and we discussed an exterior correction, which I felt 80% was a realistic goal. Results were stunning!!

    Upon arrival:

At 138,000 miles, your going to have a few battle scars.

Poor thing...lets get to work!! Engine, all door jambs, wheel wells and tires were degreased using Meguires Heavy Duty Degreaser. Great stuff!!

Now THIS is more like it!

Next was a wash using a heavy mix of Dawn dish soap and hot water. Yup, killed the finish!!

Next was my first time using Iron X. I was skeptical at first....[IMG]

    But it didn't take long...

    To say Holy.......

After seeing this and how easy it was to clay, I am a believer!!

    Onto paint inspection:

Drivers side of hood. Felt like sandpaper...

Clay revealing overspray from past body work[IMG]

Roof revealed a lot of fallout/contamination.

Taped up and ready to go. I am old school and used to a lot of sling, which is not an issue now!! I will save a ton of time from now on.

would you please provide a run down of what polishes, pads and tools you used? that would be most helpful. Also how hard it the Jeep paint? I've never detailed on before.

    cheers,

Hey So Cal. After prep work was completed (degrease engine, all door jambs, wheel wells, wash to strip finish, Iron x, clay bar and dry) then did a IPA wipe down just to make sure paint was ready, I used Meguiars A Microfiber cutting disc # DMC6 along with DA Microfiber Correction Compound # D30016. I found the Jeep paint to be on the hard side. Correction was a big challenge with some sections having to be gone over twice to achieve results I wanted. Another IPA wipe down and onto DA M/F Finishing Disc # DMF6 and DA M/F Finishing wax # D30116. The paint was easy to finish up as the compound really does a great job on its own. Another IPA wipe down and sealed the paint up with Sonax Netshield. Remember to clean your pad/disc after each pass. Remember, take the time with your prep work because it makes a huge difference going into polishing and your results. Also, learn to use mists of distilled water on rough jobs. It really helps and I hope this helped!
