ok so i think i am going to get the air vantage sander, since they are located 5 mins from me. But i went to a local paint store to find out about trizak 3m pads, the guy behind the counter gives me a price of $90 for 15 pads?!! My question is, what can i use that will be comparable to the 3m pads but not hurt the wallet so much? keep in mind i have no experience with air sanders or products associated with them. all my sanding has been done by hand.

Do you have an air compressor that will handle all the cfm's that the sander will need. Those sanders are very demanding. some of them are up there @ 10 cfm cubic feet per minute.Just so you know most common air tools are @ 4 to 5 cfm's.:thumb:

3.3 cfm is very impressive for a sander of that type. You're looking very good. Glad this worked out for you. Every time some says something like that I need to barge in so they don't waste there money...:thumb:

Is air sanding safer than regular hand sanding? It still scares me a little bit.

In my limited experience, it is leaps and bounds safer, more consistent, and creates less of a risk of deep sanding marks being left behind. I would venture to say it is even safer then heavy compounding in terms of film build removal and heat build up.

What more of an excuse do you need to get a bigger compressor now :headbang:

    Its a mistake often made.
