Hello, I'm new. I didn't get as much response as I had hoped at the "newbie forum" so I'm going to repost here hoping for some more pointers.

I'll start with posting what I have:

    Meguiars:
    Clay bar
Mirror Glaze #7 Show Car Glaze
Mirror Glaze #9 Swirl Remover 2.0
    Gold Class Wash
    Gold Class Liquid Wax
    ScratchX
    PlasticX

    Mother's:
    Clay Bar (not impressed)

AutoGlym: (just got these two days ago, lets see if they are good)
    Custom Wheel Cleaner
    HD Wax
    Super Resin Polish
    Vinyl and Rubber Care

Some random terry cloth towels(sheds like mad) and MF towels from Canadian Tire. Also I use some sponge towel thing called the "Absorber" for drying, also from Canadian Tire

I've been detailing my own old car (dark green 93 Toyota Camry) and my current car (light metallic blue 03 Toyota Highlander) for almost 4 years. I do random details for friends here and there (silver 00 Civic, white 02 Celica, 10 Mazda3) and some paint repairs from scraping poles.
My dad has a new Limerock Green Hyundai Genesis coming in the next week or so and I have been entrusted in keeping it nice.

I've been doing everything by hand the whole time and I'm really not too comfortable with power tools like a rotary or random orbit. Nor am I too familiar with all the different types out there.

911Fanatic recommended that I should try some Menzerna Power Finish or 85RD. I'm also interested in getting a foam cannon and some new towels.

So, all the gurus here, please grant me your knowledge.

Interesting tidbit: Last time I was washing my car at my girlfriend's apartment, she commented the MF towels were really soft, and if she can use it for cleaning her face. I thought it was kinda funny.

PS: I used to get most of my stuff from Canadian Tire and Lordco, now I'm thinking about getting it from Autowerkes, they are kinda close by...

I would just visit ken (911Fanatic) one day and he'll be happy to go throw everything you need and everything you need to do for your detailing routine.

Since you're in Vancouver, it'll save on shipping....

Ken will not sell you something that he hasn't tried or that you don't need ... he's a great guy and a great resource.

I would do what the guys are saying, if your not comforatble with Power Tools,
you should maybe start practicing? maybe search craigslist for a PC or PCXP?
Especially if you plan to work on other peoples cars in the future, Good luck though!
the product buying gets addictive, at least for me. The Hyundai Genesis is an awesome car btw!
