Adams IMO is much better quality. I would not stick to just brand though as no one can do everything the best.
I'd go with Adam's for the products you listed. Never really was a fan of Griot's stuff other than their polisher.
Adam's glass cleaner along with the glass towels (adams or dd) is really good. The super VRT and in & out spray are for the engine/tire/trim protect. Plus, super VRT has been reformulated to be waterproof. In & Out is awesome for the tough spots that are a pain to do with the super VRT! One of the only things I don't use by Adams is the all purpose cleaner just for the fact that it is expensive and I go through it quick. I would rather just buy Megs D103 all purpose cleaner and dilute that. It's only 14 bucks a gallon, but it does have a strong smell!
Why do you think they are directed at a novice? As for not liking the name - LOL! I have not used any of the products mentioned so cannot comment on specific comparisons.
my dad has used their stuff for ages, they are marketed towards people who have a nice a car, want to do the work but don't know "where to look" so they assume because its in Car and Driver it has to be better then mothers, or megs. Which in my experience they are all the same, and they are all OTC in my book, not that its a bad thing. I give them props that they are "no brainier" products, and the polishes are not very aggressive, that is what I meant by novice. Its not a knock, that is who they market too, and that is fine. Only thing that I liked was the clay. as for the name it sounds like a STD or the word Groin. that is me just being immature.
I have not used many of the Griots products but I do not think they can be written off as junk (not all OTC stuff is garbage). I think the Griot's Undercarriage Spray is equal (actually a tad oilier meaning more solvents) than Adams. The griot's soap while does not suds as much as Adam's is a very good concentrated soap. The pre-wax cleaner, a citrus based product,is an interesting alternative to IPA. They do seem to have a lot of overlapping products (sealants, cleaning products). They also sell an inexpensive foam gun (looks identical to the one Adam's use to sell).
I did not say it (griots) was garbage, and OTC works fine for many people including myself........... I just put the performance on par with megs, and mothers....... which are both excellent products IMO
I have used the Griot's polishes along with their 6 inch polisher with good results but I was debating on getting some ADAM's products too. I need a good glass cleaner. I was thinking either the ADAM's glass cleaner or Chemical Guy's Window clean. I also need some more clay lube/detailer. I still have some Dodo Juice BORN SLIPPY and it is a good product too. Some of you are saying the Adam's VRT and Super VRT are awesome products, I may try those as well. What about shampoo (car wash), any recommendations there?
I like using ONR for clay lube/detailer just cause it is cheap. Adam's detail spray smells really good and works awesome, but I would go through that too fast if it was clay lube. Adam's VRT is now changed to Super VRT because the old version was not water resitant. The new version (Super VRT) beads water and lasts longer. I like Adam's Shampoo out of the few I have tried. It smells like cherries and suds up really well. I have heard a lot of people love Lusso Shampoo but it is a lot more expensive for the amount you get and the amount you are supposed to use. If you are getting the Super VRT then you should get the In & Out spray too for the hard to reach areas. =]
