This vehicle was scheduled for a intense interior detail with just a wash an wax for the exterior. however after seeing the exterior in proper lighting I just couldn't let myself give it back to the customer in that condition. So I decided that I would do a quick one step, and it worked out for me too since I wanted to finally get to play around with Meguiars Ultimate compound. Foamed with DG901 mixed with Autowerkes Exclusive APC Washed with DG901 via 2BM Clayed with DI Medium Clay bar w/ CG Luber for lube Applied Iron X (I shouldn't have bothered with it since I only saw one small dot change color and I used a third of the bottle.) Rewashed with DG901 Polished with Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Cyan Hydrotech pad on my PC LSP Prima Bananna Gloss. I chose this not only because I haven't used it in a while, but also because I wanted to take advantage of it's slight filling abilities to take care of any minor swirls that were left over. Final wipe down with ReLoad Interior Before: The interior was in ROUGH shape to say the least. I ended up removing both front seats to get not only the carpet under them cleaned, but also so I could clean all of the drips on the center console. I'm pretty sure this is puke, but the customer said she didn't know what it was. Interior Afters: The white marks on the plastic in this picture are actually scuffs and gouges not dirt. Exterior Before (After wash/clay and Iron X) 50/50 After Sun Shots Thats all for the sun shots since it got very cloudy in the afternoon. The entire car looked about the same. The hood and truck had some deep RIDS still left in them, but the rest of the vehicle finished about 85% perfect. I was very impressed with the Meguiars Ultimate compound. It worked as long as I wanted it too, even in direct sunlight, it's barely dusted at all, and it cut and finished wonderfully!!! Afters: Thanks for looking!!!
That's a great transformation there buddy! You got me interested in Meg's UC now ... lol. Can't believe it finished so nice on that soft clear.
That looks good man! I bet the customer was super happy! The interior was very gross, shame on them. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Thanks! I'll tell you I was very hesitant to try UC since I didn't think it fit into my arsenal, but now I'm mad I didn't try it sooner! It really is a great product! Thank you! She was very embarrassed when I came to pick it up, but I assured her I had seen worse...lol I would say it's in between M105 and M205, leaning close to 105. It's definitely a compound to the point that it will remove a lot of defects, but it finishes almost as well as M205. As to the Menzerna products I would say it's similar to SIP, probably has a little more cut, but finishes like PF Thanks!!! Thank you!
that is good to hear, Ill have to pick some of that up...... I am all about finding products that save time and give good results. I hope your client appreciated the extra work! any suggestions on pads? Id be using it with a DA. from what I have heard, its down to this and Megs D151 for my one steps........
OTC Products! Thats Blasphemy!!! Lol Well, I do see it works well and finished very well especially on the soft Honda paint!
How does it break down to cost? What oz bottle is that OTC? I wanna say its a bit pricey for how much you get but I could be wrong. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
LOL......... not a real detail, its gotta be photo shopped, nobody can get results like that using OTC products right? LOL Im glad to see people getting some fantastic results with OTC products.
Good job. Good thing that is not an ashtray lol. I have some UC to try, looking forward to it after reading. Mike
I used both a cyan ht pad and an orange lc flat pad with this and they both worked very well. I feel like the cyan finished just a little bit better so I stuck with them. Lol, thanks. It worked awesome on this paint. I am looking forward to trying it on some harder pAint with wool and a rotary. I think it was like $8-$10 for 16oz. So even buying it in smaller bottles it cheaper than the quarts of m105 and about the same price as the gallons. Thanks! All together I spent 10 hours on this car. The paint was responding nicely so I didn't have to fuss with finding the right combo for too long. To clean most of the interior plastic and leather I used Autoglym Interior Shampoo. For the nasty stuff I used Zep Degreaser 5:1. I dress it with DP interior dressing since it works very well on faded plastic. For the leather I used Pinnacle Leather Conditioner. Thanks! That little pocket was lined with felt, I could see it being a huge fire hazard if someone tried to put out a cigarette in it! Good luck with the UC. I hope you like it as much as I do! Thanks guys!
Hah no way I have some UC from when I first started detailing. I never opened it and only bought it because it looked cool. Looks like I'll give it a try.
That interior was a mess! Nice turn around! I think you hit a the nail on the head with a detailer's desire.... One look at the car's exterior and you can't give it back that way and you do a little extra LOL.
