So, for the past few years, I've been using my Mirka for any type of wetsanding. The one thing I don't enjoy about it is the 2000 and 4000 grit Abralon pads are pretty pricey. Anybody ever try anything else on their Mirka?? Andy
I agree, I love the extra cushion on the Abralon...I don't know I'm a firm believer on you get what you pay for  But that's just my :2cents:
theh 3m trizact is a far better product in my book. Last longer, only bad thing is you gotta get thier backing plate for your PC or your DA sander.
For a minimal investment ($20) you get to use the disks that last a good bit longer. Some times if you go into a paint supply store and spend a few bucks they will give you the backing plate for free. See what they can do. As for what Nica said you can get cushion pad that goes between the sanding disk and the backing plate. I got one for each system and use them all the time. Let me ask you this, do you use mirka wet sanding paper or the megs. unigrit that is twice as much but last easly twice as long and is a better all around product?
I currently use the Abralon discs. I really like the pads being part of the disc and that, thus far, has been the sole reason for my continuing to pay the cost of the Abralon. Andy
I just found out today that Festool also makes a padded disc. Apparently they were working with Mirka on the discs. So, same disc, half the price!!! Andy
I found it on festool USA. Trying to find it again. I was trolling around when I came on it. Try festoolUSa. I'll keep looking!! Sorry!!
I would be very interested in these disks for cheaper.... I need to buy wet sanding supplies because I currently have nothing and really want to be able to wet sand when it is needed...
