As I'm new to the forum, I thought I would share this post with folks here - a summary of 2007 for me in detailing, covering the cars I've detailed and the meets I have attended... just to give you an idea of the things I get up to as an enthusiast detailer!! I hope you enjoy the thread, apollogies to anyone who has seen this already... Detailing A selection of pictures of the cars that I've detailed this year - all of my detailing I have carried out with either Bryan (blr123) and Stu (stu324). Detailing is just a hobby for me, and I've been very lucky this year to have had the opportunity to detail some very nice cars. Meets 2007 has been a superb year for detailing meets across the country - throughout the year I've racked up nearly 5000 miles traveling across the country to meets, and its been worth every single mile! The opportunity to meet like minded detailers, share hints and tips and in many cases raise a healthy sum of money for good causes really has been one I'm glad to have grabbed this year. I hope that the meets continue into 2008, as will be aiming to beat this year's personal traveling record (good job the Sweedish barge is comfy ), with a personal aim of marking a Cornwall meet after having to withdraw this year owing to a car recall. And a meet in Wales, and the south east - regions I've not yet been to for meets, and of course midlands and Scottish meets again... It would be impossible to pick a favourite meet this year, I've enjoyed every single one and I must give a huge thank you to the organisers of them for staging them! Perhaps, as my girlfriend lives in America I will be able to see if I can organise a little detailing meet in PA, near Philladelphia...? Some of the meets I've been at this year in no order: Leeds February; Leeds March (Vectra-C); Perth Mini Meet; Star Performance Meet Kirkcaldy; Aberdeen Mini Rotary Demo; Lockerbie Mini Meet (Ph2 Volvo); Nottingham Meet; Midlands Meet (Wolverhampton); Vauxhall Open Day (Ellesmere Port); Detailing World Christmas Meet (Wolverhampton); Astra Owners Club Xmas Meet (888 Race Engineering, Banbury).... and any I may have forgotten! Some pics: Artistic Pics Just for fun, some of my favourite artistic shots of paintwork reflections and clarity on details from throughout the year: And finally... This was the year that my trusty AstraG was sold after more than three years of faultless service - a couple of pics of it as a little tribute to a great wee car: Its replacement has a tough act to follow, but is certainly proving its worth greatly as a super comfortable long distance cruiser: Named after a famous long haul cruiser, "The Flying Scotsman", my Volvo S60:
Those are some impresive vehicles there Dave :druling: :druling: Thank you for sharing with us and we love pictures around here :gigle: Oh by the way I thought detailing was your business, not a hobby?
VERY COOL, thanks for sharing! I like how in a lot of your pics, you're putting on a little clinic. Do you by chance happen to remember what year that green Boxster was and what you used to correct it?
No, I'm just an enthusiast who is lucky enough to get to work on some very nice cars. I'm a Physics PhD student "by day". Cannot exactly remember the year I'm afraid but the general swirls were removed using Menzerna PO85RD3.02 Intensive Polish and some deeper scratches were treated to Menzerna S34A Power Gloss. Paint wasn't too hard.
Very Nice Details ^_^ I have just started getting into car detailing and loving it, hopefully i would be able detail cars like you have mate
Hmmmm, do you find that your PhD studies correlate to detailing? Nano polish, bah! Let's talk quarks! Ok, on a more serious note, would you happen to also have a before picture of the green boxster? Reason being, I have a 99 Boxster, dark metalic blue/tan leather interior, scheduled as my first detail this year. Owner's a friend/co-worker of mine and he's wanting to enter it into his first car show on June 1st. I want to make it perfectamundo and am doing as much research as I can before tackling it. I've already had a chance to inspect the paint, but it was in sunlight maybe an hour before sunset, so I haven't checked it under the halogen or brinkman. If you don't have a before pic, no big deal. Thanks! :thumb:
David..your paint polishing techniques are outstanding...I have tried a few of your tips when I first got the Menzerna line and have had great results with it....you my friend are a paint restoration specialist...you bring it to th next level... I always look forward to your posts as they are detailed and full of info.... AL
