I did a study of the cost of car soap from the makers web site using the recommended dilution in 3 gallons. ______________ List Price Cost per wash CG Maxi Suds II......$12_____ 0.28 Meguiars GC ______ 12.49__ 0.29 DP Auto Bath______ 45_____ 0.35 Adam's Car Wash___ 30______ 0.35 Mothers__________ 18.18___ 0.43 Poorboys__________40______ 0.47 Griots_____________40______ 0.47 Pinnacle Shampoo___70______ 0.55 DG901____________ 25.15____0.59 Optimum__________ 30______ 0.70 1z Perls____________ I like Optimum but it looks pricey now. I know some soaps can be used with less per gallon but in order to normalize it I used the recommended. If they gave a range I used the lower (more concentrated) mixture. sorry. the formatting does not work....
If you like Adam's, I'd check out Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss car wash, that stuff suds like crazy, smells awesome, and there was a noticeable difference between it and the DG CWC. Thanks for the post Bunky, I'll have to check out that CG wash.
thanks for the post bunky. pretty cool idea. i just tried optimum soap today for the first time and i like it a lot. good lubricity and definitely a lot of suds and cleaning power. a little pricey, as it was used in a foam lance and for my wash, but well worth it IMO.
I've seen Meg's GC at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. in 64 oz. jugs, but don't ever remember seeing it in 128 oz. (gallon) containers...? EDIT: Bunky, great info - thanks for taking the time to crunch the numbers!
So how many oz. of soap are you using/considering for 3 gallons of water? The Optimum is pricey, but nice. Great lubricity and sudsy. Paint feels rather smooth afterward also.
I use Meguiar's, it has worked well for me so far, but I've been meaning to try the CG citrus or Adam's, are they good?
I wil post the complete table on all the assumptions after I create a .jpg and post it. It did not format right. It shows the assumptions I used. For ex. Optimum is 1 oz per gallon, PB is 1/2 per Gallon, DP is 1oz for 3 gallons. Now, I know you can use less Optimum than the label but I had to start somewhere. I will add 1z and maybe add a range when the maker provides a range.
They used to have it by the gallon at my Target for $10, no more though! Only half gallons now, but it's $8 so not a good deal compared to what the gallon price was.
