Ok, so don't get all excited :woo: It's made by "Cen-Tech" who makes tools for harbor freight, so the question of quality is way up in the air, but maybe for some of you looking for one of these it would be worth it to give it a shot. $69.99 Maybe someone with some knowledge of these thing can take a look at it and see if it would suit our needs, finding out CC and paint thickness. Harbor Freight Tools - DIGITAL COATING THICKNESS GAUGE The PDF file with more info and specs... http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/95000-95999/95520.pdf Measurement Range 0-40 mils/0-1000 μm Accuracy ±4 digits on 0 to 7.8 mils ±7 digits on 0 to 199 μm ±(3% + 4 digits) on 7.9 - 40 mils (200 - 1000 μm)
Don't think I would trust Harbor Freight for something like that. Most of the cars I do are not metal anyway. I guess I will just have to continue to err on the conservative side.
I had already comtenplated in getting this but the standard deviation or margin of error is way too high for something as thin as clear coat.
Haha I'm not gonna be the guinea pig. although it would come in handy for all the wet sanding I got planned... :tiptoe:
