The Uber Porter Cable 7424XP with Menzerna Polishes 16 oz Kit I have been detailing for quite a few years. I just got my car out of storage since I was in S. Korea for a couple years. I would like to pick this kit up since it is relatively inexpensive. Just got out of the USAF after 8 honorable years so the wallet is a little tight. I used to use tropicare products quite a while ago and want to step up my game quite a bit. I own a 2004 Black GTO with light to medium marring/swirling. Will this kit give me a good finish? I'm curious to which pads to use with which products since I haven't used these before...Or are their other products I should get before... I just dont know what these products are capable of. Any help is appreciated!!!
I bought that kit......... its a good value. BUT since then other products have come to my attention. For one I really only use one product now, Menz PF with either blue or green Uber pads. Also the Meguiars Microfiber polishing system is something that alot of people are using, and I intend to get it myself. I hear alot of good things about Prima Finish as well, and their product line. Phil is bringing in Wolf's so there are alot of options. what is your budget, and have you used a DA before?
Around 300 I would say. I have a bit of experience, used a PC for about 4 years on my GTO. I used Tropicare products mostly. Just been out of the detailing for a couple years. Need to get caught back up on products and pads. I used to use LC orange foam pad for cutting and a bit of polishing. Then usually apply Zaino. Now I'm looking for something a bit more labor intensive. Something I can get a better gloss out of and a better finish. How is the Menz PF? A good all in one minor cutting/finishing? I have my Black GTO,black C5, and 95 burgandy Impala SS that I have to take care of on a daily. Just looking for a decent cut and finish, so I suppose one product that will cut and finish well with a finer pad and one product that will have a bit of a heavier cut if needed. Then possibly finished with power lock and a good caranuba to bring out the black gloss.... What would you suggest?
Never worked a GTO, so I cannot comment what will work for sure, hardness of clear etc..... But PF is a good all around one step, it all depends on how bad it is I guess. It has enough cut for minor swirls, hazing, marring etc..... I have Super Intensive polish too, which has a tad bit more cut, but honestly I cannot see the difference. Power lock is an outstanding sealant for black, and looks good topped too with Carnanuba, many of guys here and myself included have like the Autoglym High Def with Power lock. you can always follow up PF with super finish which is a step below PF, but it may be unnecessary, since PF is a perfect one step.
